Chapter 43: The Constable's Favor

James came to the realization that of course what he had done with the car and the door would draw suspicion, so he cleared his throat before speaking. “Evening, Constable. My name is James Granton, Vampire Hunter for the bureau.”

The officer thought for a moment before smiling. “I know you! You saved my child from a poltergeist! Can you explain what happened here?”

Edwin couldn't help but smile. “James here has saved my life tonight. I was wrongly accused of being a vampire due to my looks. And in the process, James uncovered the rather mentally ill Father Terrence,” he said motioning to the unconscious man.

The officer illuminated him before shaking his head. “We’ve been investigating him for a rather long time now. This was all the proof we needed to put him away for good. You’ve done a good service for us today, Mr. Granton.”

James simply smiled. “It was nothing, Constable. I’m glad I could help.”
