Chapter 37 - Anxious

"Muchen, Director Tan just sent me his script. It's quite good. Take a look," Shao placed the script on the table.

Muchen casually gazed at it and continued flipping through the documents. "Reject it."

Shao, who was about to casually sit down, froze. "What did you say?"

"I said reject it. I have so much to do and too little time," he mumbled, signing the proposal form.

His best friend walked up to him and stood in front of his desk in silence.

"If you have anything to say, say it. Don't hover over me," Muchen mumbled without looking up.

"You've already hired a new CEO to take care of the company. Why are you dealing with the official documents by yourself? Muchen, are you going to quit acting altogether?"

Muchen finally gazed up. "Maybe, I'll film one movie per year. Just to satisfy my fans." He grinned, scrunching up his nose. "Speaking of my fan, I wonder what he is doing now." He took his phone out of the drawer and sent a small emoji. "Tsk, see? He won't reply to texts. Only money can speak."

He sent in a hundred dollars and immediately got a response.

"This cute brat." Chuckling, he held up his phone to Shao's face. "He sent a slug emoji."

Shao blankly gazed at him. "You've really fallen in love."

Muchen, who was busy sending a reply, froze. "W-what do you mean? Who has fallen for whom? I'm just talking to my fan. Gosh, my throat is too dry." He hurriedly picked up the cold cup of coffee that was left abandoned on his desk and gulped it down.

Shaking his head, Shao sat on the desk. "You're not his lover. You're his sugar daddy."

Muchen spat out the drink. "W-what! What the heck! What are you..."

"You're always sending him money, and he only gives you attention when money is involved. It's quite obvious. You're his sugar daddy. And he is your sugar baby." Shao smirked widely. "Who would have thought this old frog would eat swan meat... tsk tsk... rich people have weird hobbies."

He shot up. "I don't! I am not his sugar daddy. Our relationship, it's... it's not like that. We are just friends."

"Friends?" Shao sighed. He took out his phone from his pocket and showed him a picture.

On it was Muchen, grinning like a fool, looking at his phone.

"You're clearly in love, you idiot! Realize it! Friend, my ass. I would really like to see how you look when you text me. You would probably look like you swallowed a ginger or something. Friend, tsk," he scoffed. "Get your head on straight. If you love him, then admit it. If you don't, keep your distance. He is not good for you."

Saying so, Shao left his study.

Muchen blankly gazed at the door with his mouth agape. 'I'm… not in love… right?'

His phone dinged loudly.

His blank eyes fell on the screen. Yunfeng had only sent a small sentence asking if he was okay now.

Seeing it, his heart started to pound in his chest. "Fuck, I'm not in love! I barely know the guy!"

That was a lie.

He knew everything there was to know about him. About his family, about his friends, about his situations. Everything.

But did he really know him?

He knew about his history but not about his character. Yunfeng was someone he had just met recently, but that guy was weirdly able to make his cold heart pound.

'But is that love?'

Muchen blankly stared at the phone.

'Or is it pity? Do I pity his situation? Then why do I feel so happy when I text him?'

He was perplexed.

For the first time in his life, he was left confused about his own feelings for someone.

His love or hate had been very distinct, but he did not know if he loved Yunfeng or not.

'How can a person fall in love in a few days? That's not possible at all...' He shook his head firmly. 'I'm not in love! No! Shao, that idiot, is just imagining stuff. I'm just being a good elder to that brat.'

His anxious heart finally calmed down.
