REBORN BEFORE HER SO-CALLED WEDDING (2)

"Keith, is Xavier back home yet?" May made sure she asked indifferently, so as not to raise any unusual room for suspicion.

The loyal maid shook her head, "I heard Sir Xavier say to Master of his hiatus, I'm not so sure"

A stance of silence momentarily reigned in the room for a few seconds.

"In the company?" May broke the depressing and intrinsic quietude. She was confused and scared because Xavier was a proud man. Did he fight with father over me?

"Eh? I mean, I guess, but I'm not confident of that truth though because there seems to have occurred a misunderstanding between the two. Sir Xavier retreated out of Master's study room, looking very peeved and enraged for some unknown reason" Keith illustriously remarked whilst clearing the room.

That reply wasn't overly satisfying yet for May, as she despairingly needed a straight and helpful strategy to woo that cold-hearted, aggressive man. She still vividly had the memory about how she had opposed his love, just some days ago, and by such refusal, she must have hurt his pride and preferred to estrange from her.

If it was the past May, her hate for him would have strengthened because she despised him tremendously. Always sticking his nose and f**king ass into her personal business. He made her feel she could do nothing without his help. As if.

But after he…their betrayal and her disappointing death. Her cracked heart couldn't help but be fixed and beat, unexpectedly, for him.

'How will I make him mine?' She would rather not accept defeat, but that man was hot-headed.

"May, are you feeling sick? Should I inform the doctor?" Keith worriedly questioned.

"Don't you even dare bring a doctor here! You know how much I hate them and their stupid injections" May whined. Keith smiled and finally packed up the items in the room. To the world, her younger mistress was just a breeding cat but to her, she was a wild cat that needed an owner…a powerful man that could tame her and her odd sinister brain.

"Hurry and go check if everyone is down there…no one missing, well, except for him," May told.

Keith knitted her brows as if asking what mishap she was up to.

Understanding that look, May fretted, "What? I just want to make an announcement…why stare at me like I am a devil" She hissed and murmured the next words to herself "The spawns of the devil are down there".

"Hmm… Master is still blaming himself, just don't get him annoyed as he already is" Keith advised.

"Are you my mother now? Controlling me!" The irritation was obvious in her sardonic voice. Keith sighed and left the young lady alone.

'I only put my trust in someone worthy of it' She mused

***********

She, absentmindedly and slowly, descended the marble stairs and headed off to the back of the house. The interior, a dark chocolate color, made a wonderful impression on her the first time they moved here but soon after, everything came falling and crashed. Subconsciously, she lifted her head to the people on the dinner table under that embroidery yellow foyer and sighed, a complicated emotion yanking against her chest. These were the same family she adored and worshiped yet they….

'Was I so blind? At least that blind Mogul is better than me'.

She saw her sister and that man she called her Fiancé smile at each other…and father didn't look bothered by such interaction.

'Why am I still expecting much from them?'

"Dear, you are here…come here, you must be famished" Nanny Gwen gestured affectionately. At long last, the entire family shifted their gaze to her. May snickered inwardly. How come, for over a minute, they hadn't noticed her presence and only after the Nanny called for her, did they look her way? Iconic!!!

"May"

"Sister"

"Baby"

May smirked and just gave a quick nod to her father. She went straight towards her seat, but before she even got there, a young handsome-looking man, with peerless caramel eyes and a V-shaped face, already deserted from his seat and suddenly pulled a chair for her.

May decided to test the waters and looked her sister's way, coincidentally, the pun was also staring at her with a loving smile, but May was aware of the vile heart and evilness behind that sweet smile. Amy was a very good-looking woman, but also unpleasantly too full of herself.

"Baby, sit next to me…" Ashton fleetingly curled his lips upward, waiting for her, but May never moved.

"May, he is talking to you…where's your mind?" cried the man of the house and one of the most dangerous men in the country, Mr. Drake Easton.

May pretended as if she were shy and looked at the floor, "I was thinking about Xavier and his endearing words whenever we were together" she smiled

She saw that the man in front of her was frozen and the smile on his face vanished. She vividly saw the imprinted wrinkles on his forehead. A pleasant smile was plastered on her face.

"Nanny, you are correct… I am hungry" She intentionally didn't accept his fake gentlemanly move and sat on the seat next to the eldest son of the family.

"Sister, you could have at least accepted his help…do you know how worried he was for you after that night? He stayed all night for your recovery and scared you'd get depression" May knitted her brows at that absurd lies. Who were they kidding?

It was in fact Xavier who had stayed up all night.

Mr. Easton stole a glance at the aloofness of his youngest child "May, your sister is right…rejecting that chair was rude of you"

May was spreading the butter on the toast when her father's definitive words rang in her head. She lowered her head and mumbled but in a tone, they were still able to hear "I think it's useless to be polite when you think otherwise" She stopped, looked at her father, and continued "Isn't that the right teaching, father?"

The Elder man was speechless, "Is this about that night? I regret not saving you before that unknown man touched you and…"

"I understand father and don't need fake concerns…because I wasn't raped"

Ashton widened his eyes and gulped down. He was alarmed that she turned daring to expose him. Silently, he grabbed his glass of water and swallowed all. He only seemed to be relaxed when a soft hand squeezed his thigh. Likewise, he adjusted his left palm on top of the hand and sighed.

That little affection didn't go unnoticed by May's sharp eyes. She chuckled, "I had a nightstand…not a big deal"
