Twenty Nine: Fights and Disagreements Part 2/2

The girl lets her go and puts her in a car, taking her to Marina's house. The girl stares in amazement. Realizing her surprise, she says:

- How do you know where I live?

- That's called having information and if you don't know, your father works with mine, so I've got some contacts about you. Be smart and before I forget, your bike and your things are in the trunk of the car. You'll tell them anything but what happened.

- Fine, just don't involve my family in this.

She drops the girl off at the corner of the house, hands over her bike and belongings and leaves. Marina is still feeling pain in her stomach, but first she checks that everything is there and finds her cell phone is dead. She arrives home and luckily it's empty, so she puts her bike in the garage, goes up to her room, takes a relaxing bath and decides to go to sleep so that the pain goes away, but first she puts her cell phone on the charger and turns it on.

Several messages quickly appear: from her mother, father, Lucas, boyfriend, Thiago. She looks at each message:

Mother: Daughter, I'm going to the doctor to do the baby's ultrasound. You probably won't be home until the evening. There's food in the fridge. Feed yourself. Kisses-12:45

Dad: Daughter, is everything all right? Your boyfriend texted me worried that you haven't heard from him. I hope nothing's happened. I'll be home later today. Kisses.

Lucas: Where are you? You disappeared out of the blue at school and everyone was looking for you. I told you that you weren't well and that you went home, but when you can, let me know.

Amor: Princess, where are you? I went to school to pick you up, but no one knew about you. Are you all right? Send me some news. I'll come by your house tonight.

Thiago: Hi sis, how are you? I miss you already and I have good news. I got custody of your sisters. I spoke to a lawyer and he spoke to the director of the orphanage and as your sisters will be eighteen next year, they will need a home. In a few days the paperwork will be ready and they will live here. I know you're doing well there and I respect your decision.

Afraid of everything, she doesn't answer anyone and lies in her corner, crying, not knowing what to do, and decides to write something on a piece of paper:

What should I do in a situation like this? I can't tell anyone what happened, but I can't keep silent either. I don't know what to do. I feel like disappearing and leaving everything behind, but I can't. I love my family and I can't do anything about it. I love my family and I can't be afraid. It's decided, I'm not going to get involved.

She snaps out of it when she feels a sharp pain in her sore spot. Getting out of bed, she grabs a painkiller and a bottle of water from the dresser and thinks about going to sleep, but her boyfriend calls her.

-Mari, what's going on?

-Hi, I'm sorry I haven't heard from you. I wasn't feeling well and came home, but I got dizzy and hit my stomach on the bike. Everything's fine now.

-My love. I hope you're better. I'm at home, but if you want, I'll come by later and talk to you and...

-No need, I'll try to get some sleep, because it still hurts. I'll see you at the weekend. Kisses, I'm hanging up.

She hangs up her cell phone and cries so hard that her eyes sting. Then she wipes her tears and goes into the living room to watch some TV. Her mother arrives a few moments later with a bag of clothes for her daughter and the baby and the two of them look at everything smiling and she puts her problems to one side. A few moments later, her father arrives and joins them. Anyone looking from afar would think that the girl's life had always been pure joy and wouldn't imagine everything she'd been through to get there.

The doorbell rings and her father decides to go and answer it:

- Good evening. Marina's home. Do you want to go and see her?

- Could you please call her? I don't want to be long.

- Yes, of course. Just a moment.

Miguel goes into the living room and calls his daughter. She is surprised, as she had arranged to see him at the weekend. She accompanies him to the balcony and when she goes to hug him, he says:

- We need to talk. I know you told me to come at the weekend, but I couldn't wait. I want to tell you something very serious. First I want to ask you to forgive me for what I'm about to tell you, but now I have to deal with the aftermath, but I want you to know that I still love you, but I don't want you to carry that weight with you, I know you deserve someone better.

Marina starts to cry and he takes it as a tell me what you did and he says it all at once:

- Almost a year ago, I dated a girl for a long time and ended up getting her pregnant, but I didn't feel ready to be a father. I had to marry her, but I didn't want to, so I left her and moved to Sete Lagoas. My cousin doesn't know this, because I didn't have the courage to tell her. When I met you, I fell in love in a way I never imagined would happen to me. I tried to stay away from you, but I just couldn't and I let this snowball build up. Today my son is seven months old and yes, I took the paternity test and it came back positive. I've come to tell you this because I don't want you to hear it from someone else. You have every reason to hate me, I'll understand, because I deserve it and I've also come to end our relationship. You deserve to be happy, but not with me. I will continue to love you, you can be sure of that, but I need to be close to my son.

Marina is speechless, she just feels tears coming out of her eyes.

He wipes them away with the back of his hand and she says:

- Thank you for telling me the truth, even if it took a while. I don't hate you, but as I said, I deserve someone better. Good luck with your son and all the best - she hugs him tightly and goes into the house, but ends up coming back to give him a kiss and says: be happy.

After that, she goes to her room and instead of crying, she puts on a song that shows what she's feeling. It's called No te Pido Mucho from the Sou Luna series.

The music calms her down and she falls asleep trying to smile, but with a broken heart.
