Worrisome Heart

The homeroom teacher got bored of his words too, and Alice sighed out a long breath in relief when he finally turned around to the chalkboard to get down to business to get the class rolling only for the announcements on the intercom to come in full swing.

The news was interesting, and it was nice to hear the daily information so that most people were updated on what was happening around the school. Alice hoped to hear more of Daphne's words only for Mr. Baird to cut off the intercom to leave the classroom in silence.

After experiencing what it was like to be behind the scenes of recording a radio show, Alice found herself tuning in more often to listen to what Daphne and the rest of the crew had to say. She would have to drag Noah along another day to record another episode since it was such an enjoyable time.

Mr. Baird went back to the board to resume whatever he was writing after glimpsing back to some papers on his desk, and Alice tried to read what it displayed since the words seemed to be something important, but the teacher's body was blocking it. Considering the reaction of those sitting in the front, it must be good.

Her phone buzzed, and Alice discreetly pulled up the message from Noah and placed her phone behind her pencil case, so that she could look at it more comfortably. When she came into the classroom, her eyes instinctually roamed over to the back to see if Noah was there.

He wasn't sitting with the other guys when she looked, and she was wondering if he was going to keep the promise that he made her about bringing his attendance up. Not that it truly mattered considering he might have other things to do, but she wanted him to keep his word.

She then got a text when she sat saying that he was running late. Alice answered the message with a question mark waiting for him to elaborate only for him to reply that he was at the school nurse. She immediately sent him a text demanding him to tell her what happened only for him to say that he had an appointment with the school nurse.

Alice wasn't letting him slide since she knew that something was up, and it didn't take him long to send her a photo of a cut on his arm. At times, she wished that he could see that he was the biggest stress in her life.

How would something like that happen in the first place if the student was careful? He then told her not to worry which made her reply with a blasé response since she really didn't care only worried about attendance in class.

It seemed as though that was what she was trying to play it off as knowing that she was shoving thoughts to the back of her head not letting them have a voice since she didn't want to overthink in the middle of the day about Noah for goodness sake.

He was getting his arm wrapped since some glass broke on his skin, but according to people, it wasn't anything bad since the scratch in the photo didn't look that deep. However, it was bleeding, and it wasn't a good sight.

Alice didn't want to believe his words brushing the accident off until she saw him for herself to judge whether or not he was really fine, knowing that accidents do happen. Despite that, she still sent him another remark telling him to be more careful next time.

The teacher was still going on writing on the board, taking his sweet time, looking back at his clipboard before back at the board to inspect the beautiful work he had just done Alice assumed.

Her phone buzzed again, and Alice read the message that popped up.

Noah: Coming right now. Be there in five.

Alice: Okay. Go easy.

She closed the message after responding and leaned back in her chair to see that Claudia was watching her closely. Alice mouthed 'What is it?' over to her.

Claudia shrugged, and Mr. Baird finally turned around while slamming the chalk down on the desk which Alice was pretty sure broke it since he suddenly wiped it with the back of his hand.

"Students, listen up," the teacher said slowly.

Alice lifted her gaze up to the board to read the words that he had written. Her eyes glided over the paragraph quickly only for a smile to start forming on her face before sliding a look over to Claudia who was mirroring her reaction.

Madeline clapped her hands together. "This is going to be a delight."

Daniel shrugged. "I wonder how the mechanics are going to work."

"Let me enlighten all of you," Mr. Baird said cutting off the chatter that was resounding through the classroom.
