Chapter 50: A New Beginning

Autumn rushes around the couch and almost tackles him. Blake lets out a light laugh as she holds on to him for dear life.

“Don’t you ever do that to me again!” Autumn scolds as she sits back off of him.

Blake has a look of confusion plastered across his face. “Do what exactly?”

Autumn crosses her arms, realizing he hadn’t done it to upset her and that she had just been panicking for no reason. “Up and disappear without saying anything. I was worried about you,” she replies angrily.

Blake sits up a little and takes her by the hand. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you. I just couldn’t go back into the house. It was easier to believe that my father was killed by some unknown enemy. Now that I know the truth, I can’t un-know it,” he says, clearly frustrated. “I can’t bring myself to be mad at Duncan, so who can I be mad at?”

“Who says you have to be mad at someone?” Autumn says softly, brushing a loose strand of hair out of Blake’s face.
