Roommates

Shortly, while wiping his tears, Eden released Miss Erika and sighed.

"Are you feeling better now?"

Miss Erika asked while showing a little smile to Eden.

"Yeah, thanks."

In response, Eden nodded, wondering,

'I don't know whether it's a trap or not, but it's been so long since someone comforted me this way. Even when Lady Celestia consoled me, I felt the warmth of just the couples, but…'

His gaze shifted to Miss Erika, and he added,

'...it's been so long since I felt such motherly love from someone other than my late mother.'

Eden had a feeling that perhaps Miss Erika was somewhat connected to his late mother. He thought of asking her, but then he stopped since Miss Erika didn't know much about her past, nor Eden would achieve anything while knowing about it, so he just ignored asking her.

"Anyways, Miss Erika. I think that's all we have to talk about, right? So, how about you remove the sleeping spell from Emilie now?"

Eden commented while pointing at Emilie. Despite knowing that the sleeping spell wouldn't harm Emilie, he became overprotective when it came to her.

"Sure!"

Miss Erika beamed and clapped her palms, and the spell was removed.

"Unmmm…"

While making a humming noise as if waking up, Emilie slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Eden smiling at her.

"Hmm? Eden…"

She called out, and in the next moment, her eyes widened as she recalled something.

"Are you okay?!"

Immediately jumping off her chair, she gazed around Eden, thinking that he might have been injured somewhere.

After witnessing Emilie's concern for him, Eden couldn't help but laugh, replying,

"Yes, I'm completely fine. Thanks for your concern, Emilie."

"O-Oh, th-that's good then."

Emilie paced backwards and averted her eyes, believing that she might have overreacted in worry.

"Oh, Miss Erika?"

Emilie noticed Miss Erika beside her as she patted Emilie's back, commenting,

"Thanks for looking after him."

"No big deal, Miss. We're classmates, after all."

Emilie replied as her gaze shifted to Eden. She added,

"Caring for each other is normal."

"Oh, but I'm honoured to know that you care about me."

Eden smirked while folding his arms.

He was just teasing her since he knew that she was trying to hide the fact that she was worried about it.

Eden realized that Emilie had started caring for him, even if it meant a little.

"Y-yeah, but as I said! Just like classmates, nothing much."

Emilie stammered and folded her arms, trying to stay calm, but her face turned slightly red for some reason.

"Yeah, I know. Wait, do you, by chance, care about me more than a classmate does?"

Eden tilted his head, trying to poke fun at Emilie again.

"Hmm?!"

Emilie's face turned bright red as tomatoes as she slammed her legs against the ground and turbulently started walking away, saying,

"N-No! Nothing more than classmates, you idiot!"

*Slam!*

Completing her words, she opened the door and slammed the door closed, then walked outside.

"Heh," While on the other side, Eden tittered, then sighed inwardly.

'Ah, looks like I made her mad, hmm? Strange, when did I develop such a tendency to tease someone? But…'

Suddenly, he remembered Emilie's red face, and his heart started pounding rapidly as he added,

'But man, she's so freaking cute just now! Gosh, I feel like falling for her all over again! Damn! My heart is feeling as if it will explode! I truly…love her!'

****

"Hmph! Idiot! Who does he think he is?"

While mumbling to herself in anger, Emilie arrived in front of her dorm.

She picked out her key from the pocket and opened the door.

As she went inside, she gazed around, but no one was there.

Sigh.

"It looks like my roommate hasn't arrived yet."

She sighed and walked towards her bed, resting down and starting to play with her hair.

'Hmmm…I wonder who my roommate will be. I hope it won't be some perverted boy, at least.'

The hostel of the Scholer's Court didn't have distinct rooms for boys and girls. Just like the co-educational system in a university, the hostel followed the same rule.

"Hmm…I wonder who will be his roommate."

Again remembering Eden, Emilie blankly gazed towards the ceiling, as if getting mused in her thoughts.

Sigh!

Once again, with a deep sigh, she turned to her left, scolding herself.

"Why in the world am I thinking about that fool? Seriously! What's wrong with me?"

She got slightly frustrated but then placed her right palm on her chest after noticing the sudden increase in her heartbeat. She mumbled,

"What's happening to me? I don't even know who exactly he is yet why is my heart beating like this…seriously."

Then she closed her eyes, adding,

"I'm so weird."

****

"Well then, I better go now."

Miss Erika gently smiled at Eden and patted his head, advising,

"But as your teacher, I can say only one thing for now: Always stay calm and collected, okay? Whether it's the battlefield or any exams, things stay the same. Having a cool mind helps you reach a better conclusion, right?"

"Yeah," Eden nodded, understanding what Miss Erika was trying to convey.

"Good." She got up from the bed and started walking towards the door, commenting,

"Your extra training will begin tomorrow after the classes, so be ready."

"Surely."

Eden grinned. Just imagining it increased the adrenaline level in his body.

"Oh, right."

Abruptly, Miss Erika halted as she picked out a key from her pocket and tossed it towards Eden, remarking,

"It's the key to your dorm. The hostel is located on the right side of the garden. Your room number is 769."

"Okay, I understand. Thanks, Miss."

Eden grabbed the key firmly and waved his right hand.

"Later then."

Miss Erika opened the door and walked away, and now Eden was left all alone in the nurse's office.

Sigh!

With a sigh, he rested down on the bed, letting out.

"I'm tired…so damn tired."

All these conversations made him tired since he hadn't fully recovered from the match just yet.

"Oh, right."

He opened his eyes and recalled that he had reached a CC rank with a red spiritual core as a reward.

"Say, system."

Eden called out.

"What's the total point I have now?"

"Ding!"

The system clanged and reported,

[It's 60,000 points, host! 50,000 from giving a scratch to Miss Erika and 10,000 from the previous achievement.]

"I see. Hmm? That reminds me. I haven't seen the scar on her cheek. Does she use healing or something?"

[Yes, she does.]

"Oh. Anyway, how much does training in the white room cost?"

[It varies from time to time. Let's say if you want to fight low-key monsters, then it will only take 1,000 points, while if you want to fight the boss monsters that you have defeated, then it will charge 10,000 points for one boss.]

"I see."

Eden placed his right finger on his chin and began contemplating whether to use the points now or perhaps later.

"Ah…I really want to fight the boss, though. But…"

He stretched his arms and yawned, adding,

"I better do it later since it's better to fight when you're all fit, no?"

[I agree.]

The system agreed, adding,

[So, what about you train after getting some sleep? I believe that would be the best solution.]

"You're right."

Eden nodded and got out of bed, saying,

"I have a room now. So why should I sleep in this comfortless bed?"

Commenting on the bed, Eden walked outside the nurse's office.

While swirling the key, shortly, he arrived in the garden.

"To the right side, yeah?"

He glanced to his right and started strolling forward.

Shortly, he arrived in front of his dorm room (769).

*Creak*

The door opened, and Eden walked inside while gazing around.

"Hmm?"

He noticed some clothes on the bed and thought,

'Ah, looks like I have a roommate here. Not bad, at least I can make some friends alongside Emilie and Robert.'

"But where's my roommate?"

He mumbled and gazed around, but no one was in the room.

"?"

Suddenly, he heard the noise of a shower from the bath and understood that perhaps his roommate was taking the bath.

"Well, since he is taking a bath, I better rest on my bed."

Eden assumed that his roommate would be a boy. He yawned again, stretching his arms and walked towards the second bed and rested on it, believing that it might be his bed since the other one had clothes on it.

*Creak*

The bathroom door opened, and his roommate walked forward.

"Hmm? Is someone there?"

His roommate asked while walking ahead.

"Oh, you're back."

As Eden heard a voice, he got up from his bed and turned around to introduce himself.

"My name is Eden White. It's a pleasure to meet–?!"

However, his voice trailed off as he noticed something truly unexpected in front of him.

"E…Eden…?"

His roommate called out with a baffled look, while Eden himself looked gobsmacked by the truly divine coincidence as he called out,

"E…Emilie…? Don't tell me that…"

"...you're my roommate…?"

Concurrently, Emilie completed the words with a bewildered look while pointing her index finger at Eden.
