Chapter 21: A Dinner Date with Magic Book

When I told Mordecai my plan on granting fertility, he looked more ecstatic than anyone else I told.

“I’m so proud of you. You’re taking your responsibilities as Luna so seriously,” he had said. That ominous churning in my stomach had ramped it up to an eleven. It became harder to eat the raspberry cheesecake bar, so I left right after.

Mordecai. To him, I’m the Luna of Nox, which is both a good thing, a bad thing and a scary thing. It’s good I’ve been able to fool him and others for so long, but I know I don’t belong here. I don’t belong in those gorgeous dresses and expensive accessories. I have no right to eat the foods I’ve been offered.

To make matters worse, I don’t have an ounce of wolf magic.

I wasn’t raised by strong parents or came from a family that was known for their magic. I was raised as an average commoner with below average abilities.
