The Guards all bowed to me when I passed by them on my way to the Alpha’s office. I haven’t seen Mordecai for days, but everyone knew our relationship was better than ever.
After the bear shifter attack, Mordecai had been much bigger on security. He made sure a lot more Guards introduced themselves to me, and they always offered to escort me if I needed to go somewhere.
If it wasn’t for the fact guilt was eating away at my insides, I’d feel so much better with all the attention. Unfortunately, I don’t. I don’t feel safer either.
Wendy and I walked up a flight of stairs and deeper into the north wing. The plate of cheesecake bars warmed my hands and sent the smell of sweet raspberries into my nose.
“I didn’t know Mordecai liked sweets,” I said aloud in hopes to distract myself.
“Why are you asking about the previous Luna?” Wendy shot back.
Well, I can’t say I didn’t see this coming.
