chapter 13

Finally getting home, we had dinner and I went to my room. I had to search my stuff to find Dean's number. For some reason, my heart began beating faster than usual. I texted him and said I would be going to the party. To my surprise, he responded immediately. Why was he even awake? I wanted to ask because the time was 1. am, but I didn't want to seem nosy so I put my phone down and went to bed. Before I could get comfy my phone buzzed. It was Dean, he had asked how my day was. I stared at the message for a while, then powered off my phone. I was too tired and I didn't like the weird feeling I was getting.

The next morning I checked my phone and there were tons of messengers from Dean. He told me all about his day nothing interesting, something about working on a project with his brother. He told me about how excited he was that I was going to the party with him and sent lots of dumb emojis with hearts and smiles. Honestly, they were kind of cute. I got that weird feeling again. , Did this guy realize I was not online I doubted he cared.

I didn't know how to respond to his messages so I just sent an 'okay'. I sat there smiling at my phone like an idiot when I heard a cough. I look up to see uncle Duncan smiling at me.

"What?" I asked annoyed. I didn't like the way the look on his face and I felt embarrassed for being caught. Wait I wasn't doing anything wrong why did I feel embarrassed?

"Oh nothing, it's just that you have a nice smile. So... Who is it that you're texting with that cute smile" he said smiling innocently but I could see what he was trying to do. Despite that, I ended up blushing and his eyes grew sharp. It was too early for this.

"D I asked you a question" shit. "Dean" I answered trying to sound indifferent.

"That guy?" he asked

"What do you mean that guy- I only talked about him once"

Uncle Duncan had a mischievous look in his eyes. I knew he was trying to get to me. He was like this sometimes. Very annoying.

"I know that but you didn't smile like that the last time. Did anything change? Anything I should know about?" he asked raising his eyebrow inquisitively as he seeped his coffee (which I made by the way!)

"Nothing changed, he just invited me to a party."

"A party!" he exclaimed.

"Yes, a party" I deadpanned, I knew he was going to get like this.

"But- but you don't like parties! You hate socializing, Why do you want to go to a party with that guy?"

"I never said I was going to go"

"Come on D, you wouldn't be smiling like that if you didn't want to go"

"I- that's"

"Do you want to go," he asked looking like a kicked puppy. He was way too old to be making that face.

I caved "...Yes I wanna go. Am I allowed to?"

"Well, you are old enough... I guess you could go... or you could stay here, with me and we can watch a movie and..."

"Uncle Duncan- I want to go," I said staring at him.

he sighed "fine"

I sighed relieved this didn't turn into a whole argument. I was about to let go let my guard down when

" But you have to come back at 8 p.m."

I stared at him blankly "Really?"

"Yes really. Don't give me that look I can't just let you go out with some random guy and...."

"Fine- fine 8 p.m." I really don't care to listen to a speech. Now, what was I going to wear?
