Both of them slowed their breathing, waiting and anticipating.
Superstes jumped away as a tower erupted from the ground below her, she continued on as they kept coming, like a reverse game of whack-a-mole.
Running a distance away, Axiolypito suddenly accelerated and placed himself a good distance away behind the heroine.
He focused on using his spawner manipulation in a way he couldn't have before, at least, not without struggling and consuming much more time.
Strangely enough, despite never even wondering of what this move should be called, an appellation came on its own.
'Wretched Spawn'
As the various spawners he meshed together shattered, out came an chimaera, born from condensed spawners meant to only spawn the best of the best, this beast packed power far beyond any of the animals used in its creation.
Augmented by the Abyss, it turned the amalgamation into something that surpassed most monsters.
Axio was quite satisfied with this, but it went without saying that this masterpiece of his own creation was going to get vaporised in a few seconds at best.
A singular creature created on the fly wouldn't be able to do anything consequential.
It could only serve to surprise Superstes for an instant whilst he prepared to unleash something that he was certain would get her wondering for a bit longer.
Before, Axiolypito had had strict limitatins on what his spawners could create.
His growth in power throughout his life had slowly stripped away some of them, but it had stayed a golden rule that he could only summon animals, that he had devoured the flesh of before.
Unfortunately, his ascension to the throne hadn't given him the ability to spawn monsters or intelligent species like humans, but it had lifted the second restriction.
His catalogue had grown immensely in just a few instants, the information about each was still flowing through his mind at this very instant.
Creating dozens upon dozens of spawners, making each float around his body as he focused on forcing them to spit as most of their respective beasts rather than a singular, super-powered one.
They would already be corrupted by the Abyss anyways and their strength wasn't what was needed.
Superstes was going to be reaching him soon.
'I have no clue where those creatures live, or have lived, you won't have a clue about their existence either, if you believe I am limited to animals, you won't expect such behemoths!' smiling to himself, he activated the spawners.
He was perfectly right, with the amounts of spawners he had thrown around during the invasion of Amor, it had been clear that while the towers and dungeons created monsters, his spawners didn't.
Superstes could only stop in her track to assess the situation when dozens of beasts measuring nearly forty meters in length suddenly appeared beside the monster.
They were multiple sorts of creatures as well, some much smaller but still much taller than elephants, their forms were dark and oozing abyssal matter, making it hard to distinguish the original features of the animals Axio had called upon.
Neither of the two had ever known what a dinosaur was, and they didn't care.
Axiolypito had the singular instant of hesitation and confusion he needed, creating a tower right underneath Superstes's feet, he launched her straight up into the air.
It was shame that the power of the towers remained awfully low but it was no matter.
'Kinship: Donation'
A pair of bat-like wings protruded from Axiolypito's back as he twisted his own body to be more avian-like.
His feet took on the form of talons, his body grew feathers to grant him better aerodynamism.
His black teeth even joined together and moved to assume the appearance of a beak, his bones even hollowed.
This adaptation was the best he had for flying around, he took off the ground, slower than normal but still dreadfully fast, especially compared to his opponent.
To Axio's surprise however, Superstes wasn't nearly as vulnerable in the air as he would have liked.
A pair of oddly geometrical golden wings formed on her back, despite not flapping in the least, she was able to remain in place.
Infusing her spear with gold, she slashed at him as he headed straight for her.
'He can still change direction at will...' the monster may not be as fast as before, but neither was she, without solid ground beneath their feet, they had to switch their gears.
In this new environment, they both landed hits on the other, but nothing that truly mattered.
Axiolypito could ignore the small cuts as if they didn't exist and simply heal them later, Supertes on the other hand was tough enough to take his collective strike, both as a punch and as a blade without getting hurt much.
The golden energy healed her immediately as well, both would need to strike a vital spot like the head to hope to do something consequential.
The monster flew higher into the sky and behind the clouds, Superstes had already noticed that some of his lookouts were still around, so this move wasn't surprising.
Him launching an entire blue whale at her was a little bit more so, but at this point, it wasn't exactly unexpected.
The monster stayed at a distance and kept launching whales in her direction, expanding her golden blade, she rammed right through the beasts toward him, erupting in front of him in a fountain of abyssal blood and guts.
'Well, getting showered in abyssal matter isn't even fazing her' Axio remarked to himself as their eyes met.
He rose a spawner he had been concentrating for a while, unleashing a torrent of ernormous dragonflies right in her face.
'Collective Strike!' wrapping blades around both of his hands, he slashed without stop through the dragonflies, the heroine still managing to evade and deflect the most dangerous hits.
By infusing her blade with gold at the last moment, Axio lost one of his offsprings and was forced to dodge out of the way as it extended.
She managed to trick him however, rather than targeting an obvious spot he would want to defend, she sliced the two antennae on his forehead.
He only had one of those.
Axio didn't miss the occasion to counter attack however, landing a deep slash right across her face whilst manifesting an offspring from one of his feet.
