Chapter 98 - The Moonlight Princess (2)

Emi was wearing a beautiful dress with the colors black, purple, and white. The dress in the back was relatively long, while in the front, it left in a way that made it possible to see her legs, which were now wrapped in long socks.

On her feet, she was wearing sneakers with the same colors as the dress, and on her head, there was a small crown. But looking at Emi's clothes, the only thing I could think of was how beautiful Emi was at that moment. No doubt, Emi was the highlight, winning over all the girls present in the place.

"So beautiful"

Anna's voice caught my attention, causing me to turn to her. Her eyes were sparkling as she looked at Emi. It was the same feeling as when a fan meets their idol or something. This caused a small giggle to escape my lips. Turning my gaze again to the royal family, everyone walked over to the thrones and sat down. The order was as follows: the king, the queen, Emi, Albert, Asia, and Lucas. Once everyone was seated, the king began to speak.

"Good evening, everyone. First of all, I want to thank you for coming to my daughter Emi's birthday. As today is a day of celebration, we will forget for a moment the conflicts and celebrate this special day. Please serve yourselves and have fun. In a few minutes, a song will play where couples can dance"

Said the king, keeping a smile on his face. Emi, as always, was quite inexpressive, and Asia kept smiling non-stop. Looking at that, I simply thought it was quite her face. While I glanced at them, Aria's voice caught my attention.

"Do you intend to ask her to dance?"

Aria said as she looked at me. In her hand was a cup from which she was drinking something that seemed to be wine. Hearing her words, I instinctively knew what she was talking about, but even so, I still didn't have an answer to her question. I didn't know if I had the right to do that since our difference in status was as vast as the difference between heaven and earth. Even if I was now a nobleman, it still didn't change the fact that I am a low-ranking nobleman. Perhaps noticing my insecurity, Aria continued to speak.

"You know that even if you don't do this, someone else will, won't they?"

Aria said with a soft smile on her face.

"Besides, if my brother really didn't want you around Emi, he wouldn't have even let you into that party. You may not have realized it, but my brother cherishes you more than you think, both as a valuable resource for the future of Solaris and as a person"

Hearing Aria's words, I was momentarily surprised. I was not an idiot not to notice that Emi's family liked me in a way. But I thought that was simply because of my knowledge. As these words were coming from none other than the king's sister, this was something I should think about. Still, upon hearing her words, a new resolve arose within me. No use being afraid before even trying. With this resolution in mind, I looked again at Aria.

"I understand. Thanks for the warning"

I said with a soft smile on my face. Hearing my words, Aria smiled, satisfied, and went back to drinking her wine or whatever it was. After that, the night went on quietly. Several people tried to talk to Emi in every way, but it was obvious that in most of the conversations, she wasn't even listening. Besides that, Emi looked bored all the time. Thanks to that, people little by little started to lose the courage to approach her.

But this lasted only until the moment when a slow song began to echo through the place. Listening to the music, almost all the men knew what it meant: it was time for the duo dance, and this would be the perfect time to call Emi to dance. But looking at Emi again, her face clearly showed that anyone who approached her would return empty-handed from where they came. Anyone who saw her from afar would immediately realize that Emi didn't want to dance, or at least that's what I was thinking.

"You're not going? she seems to be waiting for you"

Said Aria next to me. Hearing her question, I looked again at Emi's face, but all I could notice was her bored and unfriendly look.

"Where exactly does Emi seem to be waiting for me?"

I asked, raising an eyebrow. No matter how many times I looked at Emi, it didn't look like she wanted to dance, much less that she would be waiting for me. Hearing my words, Aria looked for a few seconds at Emi and then turned her gaze back to me again.

"Look at her legs"

Said Aria as she encouraged me to look. Following her words, I looked at Emi's feet and noticed that she was tapping lightly against the floor.

"She does that when she's impatient or nervous about something. The strange thing is that she hasn't noticed she does that herself"

Aria said as she smiled. She seemed to find Emi's situation quite funny.

"Anyway, she is anxious about something at your party. Even if she has never been before, usually the guests are the same since Emi was a child, all but you. So it's not that hard to guess the reason for her anxiety"

Said Emi with a smile on her face. Hearing her words, a sigh escaped my mouth, and soon I stood up from my table while looking at Aria.

"I understand. Please wish me luck"

I said as I looked at Aria. Hearing my words, Aria put a smile on her face as she went back to drinking her wine.

"Why would you need luck when you are already sure?"
