Chapter 99 - Expressed feelings (1)

After Aria's words, I slowly started walking towards Emi. In front of me, there was a crowd of young nobles, so I had to make my way through them all. The closer I got to the front, the more I felt like my heart would stop at any moment. 

After pushing a few more people, I had finally reached the front row. There were several men along with me, but none of them could muster up enough courage to ask Emi to dance. Of course, I was the same, but even with that fear, I couldn't miss that chance.

Moving my eyes to Emi, I saw that she was already looking at me. Looking at her feet, I noticed that they had calmed down. This made me wonder if I really was the cause of her anxiety and nervousness. Looking at the king, he seemed to be looking at me with some kind of expectation, while the queen appeared to be waiting anxiously for something. 

Albert looked at me with interest in his eyes, and Asia looked at me with excitement. As always, I still could not understand Lucas' thoughts. Taking a deep breath, I made my way to Emi.

As I walked, I could hear some voices coming from behind. But at that moment, something very strange was happening to me, as if the world was blurred around me, and all I could see perfectly was Emi. Somehow, this made me more at ease. For some reason, it seemed that in the world, there were only Emi and me. With this thought, I knelt in front of royalty.

"Princess... would you do me the honor of dancing with you?" 

I asked as I kept my gaze on the floor. I didn't know what Emi's reaction was, and I felt like I would throw up from so much pressure if I wasn't looking at the floor. All the previous murmuring ceased, and all I could hear was the breathing of the people around. It seemed like everyone wanted to know what Emi's answer would be, and thankfully, it didn't take long to come.

"It would be my pleasure" 

Emi replied. As soon as I heard those words, I was momentarily in shock. I wasn't really expecting her to accept my request. In fact, I was prepared to be denied. As I thought about that fact, a thought began to pop into my mind, a thought that initially would be impossible for me to even consider having.

(If we take into account everything that has happened until today, that doesn't mean that... Emi might like me?)

Removing these thoughts from my mind, I looked again at Emi. Slowly, Emi was walking towards me. Yes, now was not the time to have this kind of thought. At this moment, I should only think about how to make Emi have the most fun at her party. 

As soon as Emi arrived in front of me, she stretched her hand towards me. Taking her hand, I deposited a kiss and stood up facing Emi. Her beautiful golden eyes stared at me, trying to decipher what I would do next.

Slowly, I started to move away, going to the place where there were some people dancing. As we got closer, people moved away, giving us space to enter the middle. In no time, we were in the middle where a slow music was playing in the background. As soon as we reached this place, Emi looked at me with her golden eyes.

"Can you dance?" 

Emi asked. Hearing her words, I nodded slightly. 

"A little... at least I think I know the basics"

I said uncertainly, and it's true I knew how to dance, but I had little time to learn. Hopefully, at least I won't be a hindrance to Emi.

"It's okay, to tell you the truth... I really wanted to dance with you, so... thank you" 

Said Emi, as a beautiful smile bloomed on her face. For some reason, as soon as I heard those words, my mind relaxed almost instantly. Emi wanted the same thing I did. Upon knowing this, an immense joy filled my heart. 

I remembered her perfectly, the same feeling I had the day I saw Emi for the first time. Somehow, I ended up falling in love with Emi for the second time, at least, that was the feeling I was getting.

"No" 

I said, shaking my head, denying Emi's words. 

"I'm the one who needs to thank you. Before I met you, I didn't have a clear goal for the future. I just thought I wanted to do something that could help the world, but I never thought I would go that far to accomplish that" 

I said, looking at Emi. As I spoke, I noticed that Emi was paying a lot of attention to my words. While this conversation was going on, she and I danced softly around the place.

"You know... initially, I was a person who didn't wait for a future... actually, I think the right word would be that I couldn't wait for one" 

hearing my words, Emi put a confused expression on her face. 

"What do you mean by that?" 

Asked Emi as she looked at me. Hearing her words, I just shook my head again. 

"That's in the past. Although I am grateful to the past for making me who I am today, I don't intend to live it. I just... I just wanted you to hear this" 

I said, looking at Emi's face. The background again was blurry, with the only thing I could think of and see being Emi.

"You know... today is also my birthday" 

As soon as I said that, Emi's eyes widened in surprise. 

"And that's why I need to thank you" 

I said, getting Emi's attention again. Emi was looking at me with confused eyes, as if she didn't understand what I was trying to say. 

"For what?" 

Emi asked, with curiosity in her eyes.

"For giving me the best birthday present I could ask for" 

I said, making Emi's eyes widen. 

"Emi... I love you. Do you agree to get into a relationship with me?"
