Chapter 18 Unsuccessful suicide attempts

After making sure Mellisa was fast asleep, Maxwell gently put her head on the pillow and got out of bed. He realised that Linda and Shina were standing at the door. "Come on let's go, she needs to rest now," Maxwell said, walking over to where Shin and Linda were.

". Come on let's go, Shina," Linda said, pulling Shina out of her daze. She knew that she must be thinking about their mother who was once in a situation like this.

The three of them went to the dining room, and Mark and Michelle were already waiting for them to arrive in the dining room.

"Hi, Mark. Thanks for driving her home." Maxwell greeted casually, making Mark's eyes widen in shock. Almighty Maxwell Williams greeting his staff was something he never expected let alone being thanked by him. He thought he was cold at work and at home. Maybe he was so shocked because it was the first time he visited Maxwell's house and the first he saw this side of him.

"Sir don't misunderstand me but are you okay?" Mark had no choice but to ask, fearing that Maxwell would cut his pay cut. He worked for Maxwell for five years, but he never once thanked him, let alone greeted him incredibly affectionately.

" I know what you mean, " Maxwell said with a bored expression. "I treat my workers strictly at the office. At my home, I treat my visitors warmly. I'm a multiple Billionaire today because I'm strict with my workers. I wouldn't be at this point if I treated everyone warmly at the office. "

"Wow sir I must say, you are really smart, I thought you were always aloof. I've always wanted to hang out with you to learn more about business in case I start my own business in the future, but you've intimidated me and I dropped the idea." Mark blurted out, and when he realised what he had said, it was too late.

" Oh," Maxwell smirked, he was happy to know that his workers were intimidated by him." You can have dinner with us here, you are welcome if you want to. " Maxwell said.

"Thank you, sir. "Mark said, feeling embarrassed.

"It's okay," Maxwell said, turning his attention to Michelle who was standing quietly next to Mark. " Can I have a word with Miss?"

" Yes sir. Michelle, said she got scared of Maxwell, listening to his conversation with Mark.

" Come on Linda, you too join us. Shina Please take Mark to the dining room, we will join you shortly. "Maxwell said.

" Okay," Shina replied shortly.

Maxwell, Linda, and Michelle left the dining room. The reason why Maxwell wanted to talk to Michelle in private was that he wanted to make her Mellisa's maid. He had lots of maid service and his own chefs but they did not live in his house he did not have time to deal with the affairs of his maid, he knew how trouble some they could be at time. That's why they were allowed to work in the morning until at night and go back to their homes , , only the guards were allowed to live in his house. That's why he hired Michelle to live in his house and make her Melissa's maid and take good care of her emotionally and physically.

" Michelle is your name right? Maxwell asked as they walked around the house showing Michelle every corner of the house.

"Yes sir. " Michelle replied.

"Okay, I hope you feel at home. Don't be afraid of me I will never exploit anyone in my house unless you do something to upset me," Maxwell said cautiously.

" I understand sir. " Michelle said, making Linda roll her eyes.

" Dad, stop scaring her. How will she take care of Mellisa if she is scared? '' Linda raised her eyebrows. " Don't worry Michelle, the reason why my father wanted to speak to you in private is that he wants you to take care of someone who is pregnant but she is not aware of it." Linda said straightforwardly.

Michelle furrowed her brows in confusion. "But how is that possible?" Michelle couldn't help but ask. "I mean, could someone get pregnant without her knowing??"

"No, it's not like that." Linda recounted everything that happened the day she was kidnapped and how Melissa sacrificed her life for her as well as what the doctor said.

" Oh, that reminded me of someone I know, who was so humble and selfless. " Michelle said sadly.

" That's what happened, so we must take care of her so that she does not stress herself out. Stressing so much might put her baby's and her life in danger. I don't want anything to happen to her before she gets married to my dad, she must be my mom, . . " Linda said happily

" I hope you understood everything, I'm not good at explaining myself, that's why I brought my daughter with me. " Maxwell said. "Only the 3 of us know about this now, I hope it stays like that. "

" Okay sir, I will not tell anyone about It," Michelle said.

" We will talk about your salary after dinner, is it fine with you? "

" Okay sir, " Michelle said.

" Okay then, let's go, I will show you Melissa's room. Maxwell said, leading the way to Mellisa's room.

Knowing that Melissa was still sleeping, Maxwell didn't knock on the door, but opened it, only to find that the room was pitch black and the lights were off. Frowning, he turned on the light, but he couldn't find Melissa on the bed.

" Where did she go, dad? " Linda asked anxiously. " I will go and check her in the bathroom. " The three of them rushed into the bathroom to find Melissa lying unconscious in the bathtub, surrounded by the water which had already started to turn cold.

Linda quickly grabbed a towel and draped it over her, while Maxwell held her head up and started to perform CPR.

Michelle froze in place, her heart stopped beating, and her brain stopped functioning like paralysis, she never dreamed she would meet Melissa for the first time in this state, and her heart sank. Shattered into a million pieces.

" CALL THE AMBULANCE MICHELLE!!!!!" Linda cried out desperately, waking up Michelle from a daze. Fortunately, she had a cell phone in hand, so she called an ambulance without wasting time.
