Chapter 19 Saved again

Before the ambulance arrived, Maxwell ran out of the room with Melissa in his arms, followed by Michelle and Linda who had tears in thier eyes.

Maxwell ran desperately, and even when Shina asked him what was wrong he didn't stop, reaching outside the house, he put Mellisa in the backseat of his car and drove off. His heart was shattered when he saw Mellisa's condition. Yes, he understood that her heart was broken but that didn't mean that it was the end of the world, what was the point of killing herself for people who did not care about her, of course, No one was going to care for her if she did not care about herself.

"Mark, take us to the hospital," Linda said to Mark. Her heart pounded in her ear and her breath rattled.

"Linda, what is it? Can you tell me?" Shina shouted, puzzled. Her father left without telling her anything with Melissa in his arms, who seemed to be unconscious.

Kill herself, let's go to the hospital now. "

" What!! " Shina exclaimed..

"Let's go, let's go.''Mark, who knew nothing, said, seeing Michelle's eyes full of tears and loss, he realized that Melissa was very important to her.

Without delay, the four rushed out of the house and got into the car, Mark started the engine and drove away.

In no time Maxwell reached the hospital, and the doctors and nurses were already waiting outside, without wasting time, Mellisa was rushed inside the operating theatre. " Doctor, " Maxwell rushed to the doctor stopping her from entering the theater. " Will she be fine?? "

"I'm sorry, Mr. William, but I can't say anything at the moment, she is in critical condition. We will do everything we can to save her life and the baby," explained the doctor. "Sorry, I'm starting the surgery now." Said the doctor and he left.

With a deep, painful sigh, Maxwell sat down on a bench near the theater entrance. He didn't want anything to happen to Mellisa or the baby.

Minutes later, Linda, Shina, Mark, and Michelle arrived at the hospital, they got out of the car, and they ran inside the hospital.

"Which ward is Mr. William in?" Upon entering the hospital, Mark asked the receptionist.

"Go straight ahead and you'll see a theater operating room with red lights on and you'll find him there," the lady receptionist said.

" Okay, thank you, ma'am. " Mark said, they all went as the reception lady said.

" Dad! Is Mellisa alright? " Linda called as soon as she saw her father.

Maxwell looked up and saw Linda and the others in front of him. Maxwell said, ignoring Linda's question. "Michelle, is there any relationship between you and Mellisa?"

"Yes, my dad and her mom are brother and sister," Michelle tearfully says. What's worse is that It was her mom who forced Melissa into getting married. How was she going to face Mellisa? She could only thank God that she wss going to live with her and take good care of her.

"Mark, I want you to go and find out everything about Mellisa's husband," said Maxwell coldly. "Take Michelle with you, she will help you because she knows everything about Mellisa. Drop Linda and Shina at home first, tomorrow they must attend their class early in the morning. " Maxwell said.

" Dad, I'm not going anywhere. " Linda said firmly, " I want to stay here until the surgery is done. "

" Me too dad, how can you tell us to just leave like that? We want to stay here too. " Shina said.

"Mark, I hope you understood what I said," said Maxwell coldly. His pulse twists to the point that it quickens with rage, and God only knows what he will do when he finds Zick, Mellisa's husband.

Shina and Linda realized he was angry and left with Mark, not wanting to upset him. They knew that if Maxwell was angry if they loved their lives, it would be best to stay away from him. He was a good father to them but they were well aware of his bad side when he was angry.

2 hours later the red light in the theater room went switched off and the doctors and nurse came out, other two nurses pushed Mellisa's bed to the ward. Maxwell rushed towards the ward where Mellisa was, his heart pounding with a mix of emotions. As soon as he entered the room, he saw her lying peacefully on the bed. He cautiously approached her, his eyes full of concern . He gently caressed her head and said, "Mellisa, how are you feeling? You gave us all such a big scare, why would you do such a thing? " Maxwell murmured

The nurses came In, one of them giving Maxwell a reassuring smile. She said, "The surgery was successful and we were able to save both the mother and the child. The doctor performed a temporary surgery because she was in danger, but if this happens again, we will have to do a heart transplant which might harm the baby. I hope you take good care of her until she gives birth. ."

Maxwell nodded in understanding and thanked the nurses."I won't let you kill yourself for someone who doesn't care about you, I'll take care of you and let you realize your worth, but to do that I have to be indifferent to you, it's the only way so that you can understand your worth. And that so-called husband of yours, I will teach him a good lesson that he will not misbehave with any other woman again. 'Maxwell whispered

. He stayed by her side, watching her sleep and occasionally talking to her. He was relieved to know that she was safe.

….. The next day. ….

Mellisa opened her eyes and looked around the room. she frowned when she realized that she was in the hospital ward. "What? Am I not dead? I'm sure either hell or heaven doesn't look like this," she murmured angrily. "Don't tell me that he saved me again! Oh gosh! That man, why won't he just mind his own business?"

"Good morning," Maxwell smirked. "Welcome back to Earth. It's not like I would let you die so easily. You should start planning your future instead of your death."

Mellisa raised her eyebrow and gave Maxwell a glassy stare. "Why can't you just let me rest in peace?" she gritted her teeth in anger. "I'm sure you're a busy man. Why don't you focus on your companies and leave me alone? I have no future to plan, I just want to die. Is that too much to ask?"
