Chapter 29, Be my wife or come and fetch their dead bodies

Riya entered Zick's room a few minutes later, with a frown on her face. She walked towards Zick, who was lying on the bed and facing the ceiling. "Zick, what happened to you?" Riya asked in confusion, raising her eyebrows as she sat on the bed next to him. "I can't see Melissa anywhere, didn't you bring her home with you?"

Zick sat up and sighed. "Granny, Melissa found a new lover for herself," he said. "She said that she will send the divorce papers soon. Please help me get my wife back."

Riya gasped in shock. "What?! How dare she find someone else!" she exclaimed. "Don't worry, son. She will come back to you, whether she likes it or not. I will ask my man to find more information about the guy she is dating. If he is more powerful than us, then we have no choice but to blackmail her." Riya said, her words shameless and unapologetic.

" I knew that you would help me Granny, thank you so much. " Zick with a hidden smirk." I know that guy, Maxwell Williams. He is the first richest trillionaire in this country which makes you the second rich person in this country."

" Don't worry, I'm helping you because you've changed into a good boy. " Riya said. " Just give me a week to sort everything out okay? Go and freshen up and come down for breakfast okay? " Riya said, rising off the bed she left the room.

" Mellisa, I will not let another man touch you before I did. You are mine and you will always be my property!! Mine alone. " Zick said with an evil smirk lingering on his lips. After seeing Mellisa's new transformation, Zick's so-called love turned into obsession, he was going to do everything in his power to make Mellisa his first.

Mellisa felt incredibly awkward after impulsively hugging Maxwell, and quickly pulled away. "I'm sorry, I got too excited," she said, nervously tucking a strand of hair behind her neck. She felt embarrassed for getting so carried away. "Actually, ever since I was little, people have always called me a silly girl or a good-for-nothing," she continued, her voice trembling. "No one ever believed in me like you just did, I–I." But before she could finish her sentence, Mellisa burst into tears. She was overwhelmed by the fact that Maxwell was the first person in her life to believe in her and give her such a huge opportunity to start over. He could have easily hired her to work in his company, but instead, he wanted her to be successful in life, and she couldn't help but feel grateful. Despite her joy, however, Mellisa couldn't help but feel a sense of disapproval towards the people who had never believed in her before.

Hey, Mellisa! Don't you dare cry! You are not a good-for-nothing girl and don't you ever think that you are. Maxwell moved closer to her, closing the distance between them. He looked her in the eyes and said, "Mellisa, I believe that you are destined for greatness. You will be more successful than those who have looked down on you. So, don't you dare waste your time and energy crying? Instead, focus on making money and building a better future for yourself. Do you promise to be happy and never cry again?"

Mellisa nodded her head rapidly, wiping away her tears. "Thank you so much for all that you have done for me today," she said with a grateful smile. Maxwell smiled back and said, "You're welcome.

They were interrupted by a maid who entered the room with a tray of food and medicine in her hand." Here is the food sir." The maid bowed her head slightly.

"Here is your breakfast and medicine, eat first before your work," Maxwell said, cheerfully as he walked to the table and placed the tray there. "Don't overwork yourself, okay? If you feel tired, don't work. I'm off to the office now, I've prepared everything for you to advertise the clothes that you sewed online, I promise you, you will get more clients there. But, I can't help but feel a little bad about the amount of work you have to do. I'm off to work now, have a nice day."

"Thank you, and have a nice day too," Mellisa said with a hint of joy in her voice as she waved at him.

"Thank you, God, for making me meet a decent man like him. Melissa murmured her thanks to God for bringing a decent man like Maxwell into her life and giving her another chance. She promised to put her past behind her and move forward. She was especially grateful to Michelle and Maxwell for their belief in her when many others had looked down on her. Michelle had gone out of her way to ensure that Melissa had the opportunity to study, providing her with online classes in business and fashion design. Melissa would be forever thankful for their kindness.

Days flew by and a week had already passed. Mellisa was elated as her online business was thriving. She had originally doubted that her clothes designs would be well-received, but to her surprise, they were a hit! She had gained one million Instagram followers in just two weeks, and orders were pouring in. Mellisa was overjoyed. All her problems disappeared after failing a divorce case in court, at the moment she was very happy, very happy that she could not describe it.

"GUYS!!" Mellisa yelled running down the stairs full of excitement. " I just received my first payment for the first dress I made."

Maxwell leaped from his chair as soon as Mellisa called out, racing towards her to keep her from tumbling off the stairs. He caught her just in time, his strong arms wrapping securely around her waist to prevent her from falling.

Mellisa instinctively held onto Maxwell's neck for stability, her heart racing as she looked into his deep brown eyes for the first time. She could feel her cheeks flush as Maxwell's gaze lingered on her.

"Be careful, Mellisa," Maxwell said softly, setting her back down on the ground.

"Thank you for not letting me fall," she replied, her voice barely a whisper.

Just then, Mellisa's phone started ringing, breaking the moment between them.

Mellisa frowned when she saw the Id caller unknown, remembering that she was working online she picked up the call.

" Mellisa, baby. " Zick said on the other side of the call.

" Why did you call me up?? "Mellisa asked coldly. " I'm sure you received the divorce papers, please do me a favor by signing them. "

"I have your uncle and aunt here, " Zick said. " Either you come back to me and become my wife again or come and get their dead bodies. Think carefully, you have only 24 hours to decide, and your time starts now. " Zick said and hung up the call.
