Tina was feeling frustrated as the laughter coming from the room three steps away from hers was preventing her from getting any sleep. It was early in the morning, around 5:30 am, and she had just come home late after meeting with Zick the night before. With a flushed face, she headed to Shina's room and saw four girls enjoying themselves while she couldn't sleep. She couldn't help but express her disapproval.
"What's wrong with you guys? It's way too early in the morning to be making this much noise. If you don't want to sleep, at least let others get some rest.I know that illiterate people are fond of making noise but please behave. " Tina said, her voice stern.
The four girls stopped what they were doing and looked at her, with Melissa shaking her head in disbelief. "Illiterates, you say ? Wow, what a way of greeting people ," she said, a smirk on her face, as the other girls burst into laughter.
"Like seriously, how can someone who is jobless have the audacity to insult other people by calling them illiterate? You may be educated, but instead of looking for a job, you are busy chasing after married men and rich old men - how typical of you," Shina asked sternly, her disapproval of the situation evident in her tone.
Michelle calmly replied, "People who have no future to plan only think of sleeping, but we the illiterate have better things to do. After we finish here, everyone is starting their day - Linda and Shina will be off to college, I'm off to the office and Mellisa is going to make a dress for the most famous celebrity. Then you, the educated but jobless one, can sleep."
Tina gritted her teeth, her face reddening in anger. "How dare you insult me like this? You will pay dearly for this Mellisa, I'm not going to let this pass.
"I know what you are capable of now," Melissa said sternly. "You may help Zick as much as you want, but you will never win in breaking me apart. Do tell Zick that I'm no longer scared of him; if he does something, then you both are going to pay dearly." She shook her head in annoyance , her eyes narrowing in warning.
Tina was taken aback by Melissa's cold words.
She felt a knot in her stomach; if Melissa was aware that she was helping Zick, it meant that even Maxwell knew the truth. She could only imagine what he must be thinking of her, and it was something she did not want. With a heavy heart, she stormed out of the room.
"Wow Mellisa, I'm so proud of you. This is a good way of dealing with people like Tina.."Michelle said with a proud smile.
We're so proud of you, Mellisa, for taking the first step to fight for yourself. We'll help you every step of the way and you'll find your happiness in the end. Shina said happily as they all hugged.
It was time for breakfast and everyone was there except Maxwell.
"Lizy, has my dad left for work already?" Shina asked the maid who was serving breakfast.
"No ma'am, he's still sleeping in his room. I haven't seen him this morning," the maid said politely.
"What? That's not like him. I think something's wrong," Shina said, raising her eyebrows in confusion.
"I'll go check on him. Maybe he's not feeling well," Tina said, getting up from her chair. Before she could leave, Mellisa spoke up.
Mellisa spoke sternly, "He is my husband and I will go and check on him." She then added, "Even if you are living in this house, don't forget that you are his EX-WIFE." With that, she rose from her chair and headed upstairs to Maxwell's room.
Tina's muscles were quivering and her pulse was racing as her heart pounded with increasing hatred for Melissa. She wished she could just cut off her head; how was Maxwell going to notice her in Melissa's presence? Sitting down, she grabbed her phone from the table and scrolled through her news feed. When she saw the latest news, she smiled, hopeful that her plan with Zick would work out as planned.
"Mellisa will take care of dad if he isn't feeling well," Shina said as she got up from the chair. "Lizy, please give me a call if dad isn't doing okay."
"Let's go," Linda said, picking up her bag.
"Michelle, come on. The driver will drop you off at the office," Shina said.
"I'll make sure to eat properly during lunch," Michelle said as she stood up.
The four of them left the house, leaving Tina at the table.
Tina quickly dialled Zick's number on her phone, and after a few seconds her call was answered. "Good morning, I just saw the news, well done. Our plans are going to work perfectly fine,"
Zick's voice said from the other side of the call.
"Did Mellisa see the news yet?" Zick asked.
"No, she didn't, but can you believe that she threatened me this morning? With every passing day she is changing, we need to plan faster before she becomes untouchable," Tina responded.
"Don't worry, this plan will surely succeed," Zick reassured her before hanging up the call.
…
Mellisa reached Maxwell room, she knocked on the door but heard no response so she decided to enter the room, she was taken aback by how the beautiful his room looked
Its luxurious bedroom decor features a modern black and white colour palette with blush accents. The walls are painted black with white trim, while the floors are covered in a soft white carpet. A large black canopy bed is the centrepiece of the room, with white and black accent pillows and a cosy white throw blanket. Gold and silver accents add a touch of glamour, while a crystal chandelier adds a hint of sparkle. The room is finished off with a velvet armchair, an elegant vanity, and a modern black and white patterned rug white patterned.
Reminding herself why she had come, Mellisa walked towards the bed where Maxwell lay sleeping. Gently shaking his arm, she softly said, "Maxwell, wake up."
Maxwell opened his eyes and was met with Mellisa's gaze. Smiling weakly, he said, "Good morning, it's so good to see your face in the morning."
Mellisa ignored his comment and asked, "You seem unwell, what happened to you?" She reached out to touch his forehead and quickly pulled her hand away when she felt the heat radiating from him. "Oh my gosh, you have a fever, I'm taking you to the hospital right now," she exclaimed.
"I don't want to go to the hospital, I'll be fine," Maxwell replied with a smile.
Mellisa's eyes widened. "You're not well and you don't want to go to the hospital? I'm calling a doctor right now," she said firmly.
