Chapter 46 A kiss

Maxwell's face turned ashen as Mellisa insisted on taking him to the hospital. "If I go to the hospital then the doctor will give me an injection, I'm scared of the injection," Maxwell said, his heart racing.

Mellisa's mouth hung open as she looked at the man on the bed, and a bark of laughter escaped her lips without her wanting it. How could a huge and scary man like Maxwell fear an injection? It was so unbelievable that Mellisa couldn't help but laugh even more.

Maxwell glared at Melissa, who was laughing with a pinched expression. Was she really making fun of him because he feared injections? So what if he was huge and scary? Everyone has their weaknesses right? "Laugh all you want, making fun of me," Maxwell said, narrowing his eyes. It was actually the first time he had seen Mellisa laugh like this, and she looked so beautiful, but it was nothing good because she was making fun of him.

"I__I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh but you are impossible, you are good at making people pee in their pants but you are afraid of such a small thing as an injection." Mellisa said controlling her laughter, she knew it was wrong to make fun of someone unwell but she could not help it." I will be right back ok. " Mellisa rushed to the bathroom leaving Maxwell with a gloomy expression.

Mellisa came back into the room, carrying a bowl of cold water and a towel. She placed the bowl on the floor and walked over to the bed. "Please remove your shirt," she said, her voice soft and shy.

Maxwell's eyes twinkled mischievously. He was determined to take advantage of this opportunity to punish Mellisa for laughing at him. "I'm so weak I can't even lift my finger," he said, feigning pain. "Won't you help me, Mellisa?"

Mellisa sighed, knowing that she was the one who was going to have to take off Maxwell's shirt. Her face burned red as she nervously approached him, her hands trembling as she slowly began to unbutton his shirt. She was so close to him that she could feel his breath on her neck, and her heart raced. When she had finished, she was about to step back when she lost her balance and fell onto Maxwell's strong chest. Blushing, she quickly got up and stepped back, avoiding his gaze.

Maxwell couldn't help but flash a hidden smile, realizing that Mellisa's shyness and attraction to him were a good sign. Maybe one day, that attraction would turn into love.

Mellisa picked up a bowl of water and a towel, she carefully placed it on the chair and dipped the towel to wetten it, after it cooled down she placed it on his forehead, neck, and his chest. She kept on doing the same thing, Maxwell's seemed to go down almost immediately, his body was no longer hot like before. After wiping his body, Melissa went to the bathroom and left the bowl and the towel.

"Where are your clothes.?" Mellisa asked, still averting her gaze away from Maxwell.

Maxwell smiled but said nothing, "The room next to the bathroom." Maxwell said.

Mellisa walked to the closet and opened the doors of the closet, her mouth hanging open, in her lifetime she never owned so many clothes. Maxwell's closet was a lavish affair. It was filled with tailored suits, Italian leather shoes, and designer accessories. The walls were lined with finely crafted wooden cabinetry, holding an array of neatly folded garments, meticulously organized by season and color. The closet was illuminated by a gold-plated chandelier, creating a warm, inviting ambiance. She took a shirt and closed the closet. And went back to Maxwell.

Reaching the bed she gave him the shirt, Maxwell took the shirt from Mellisa and wore it, there was no excuse now cause his fever reduced.

"I will make soup for you, take some rest."

Mellisa averted her gaze away from Maxwell and was about to leave the room when he held her hand, stopping her. He pulled her close to him, making her fall on his chest. Mellisa's pulse started racing and her heart pounding, with a fluttering in her stomach.

"Mellisa, why are you so shy around me after everything we did?" Maxwell whispered in her ear, his hot breath fanning her. "After the sweet love we've made, why are you still shy? After I have explored every part of you with my hands and lips, tell me why you are shy," he said, his voice husky.

Mellisa felt an electric jolt as Maxwell's whispers caressed her ears. Her knees weakened as she found herself tongue-tied, not knowing what to say. His request was something she had been trying hard to forget. She had never had sex with any man before and wasn't sure what she was feeling - was it lust or attraction? Every time she thought about it, her heart raced and she could feel Maxwell's touch. She wished he could touch her again like he used to, but she reminded herself that she didn't need a man in her life right now, so why did he have to bring this topic up now?

Maxwell and Mellisa locked eyes, the intensity of the moment palpable. Neither of them knew what they were feeling - was it lust, attraction, or love? But they were powerless to resist it.

Maxwell finally broke the silence, leaning in to kiss Mellisa softly on the forehead. When she didn't pull away, he drew her closer, his strong arms around her waist. His gaze never left hers as he ran his fingers through her hair.

"Mellisa," he whispered, his voice husky with emotion.

Her heart raced as Maxwell moved in closer, his lips lightly brushing hers. His kiss was gentle yet passionate, and Mellisa felt her body respond to his touch. She ran her hands up his chest and around his neck, deepening the kiss. His body heat radiated through her and she melted into his embrace.

Maxwell pulled away, still looking into her eyes. He tenderly brushed her hair away from her face and smiled, his gaze still locked with hers.

By the time Mellisa snapped out of her fantasy world and realized what just happened, her face turned red, without wasting a second she fled out of the room with a smile on his face. His fever seemed to have broken off.

Maxwell's phone rang and he knew it was Mark. He answered the call, "Hey, Mark. I won't be coming to the office today, I hope you take care of the company well." He said

"Good morning Sir, you should watch the news, sir. It's very important that you watch it," Mark said.

Maxwell hung up the call and quickly checked the latest news. His anger rose as he saw the news; he knew it must have been either Tina or Zick who had caused it. Every time he tried to get closer to Mellisa, they interfered, and whenever Mellisa tried to forget the past, they did everything they could to ruin her happiness. He wondered how she would react when she saw the news.

"Send me the number of the CEO who owns this news channel within a minute," Maxwell called Mark again and demanded, Then he hung up the call.

Maxwell's phone dinged, indicating a new notification. He didn't hesitate, quickly calling the number that had sent the notification. The call was picked up immediately. In a cold tone, Maxwell said, "If you still want to keep your wealth and company, you will remove the news about Zick's ex-wife from all the channels within five minutes. If you don't, don't blame me for what I will do. This is Maxwell Williams speaking."

The man on the other side of the call stammered, "R-Right away sir. Please don't mess with me or my business. I'll remove the news." He had heard of Maxwell's reputation for being ruthless in business, and he was not like a dead killer who threatened to kill without taking action.

Maxwell hung up the call.
