Chapter 47 He must pay

Mellisa's heart pounded as she entered the kitchen, feeling like it was going to burst out of her chest. She knew that what was happening shouldn't have been happening in the first place. She wasn't ready to be in a relationship with anyone, she needed to focus more on her children and herself before thinking about getting attracted to anyone… "Whatever it is that I'm feeling, It must die before I can repeat the same mistake. Yes, he is different, but people do change and I can't trust him completely. I should stay away from him. She murmured to herself, her face burning red, thinking about the kiss they just shared.

Mellisa took a few moments to calm herself down before she gathered her ingredients and began making a soup for Maxwell. After 30 minutes, she was done and left the kitchen to head to Maxwell's room. When she kicked the door open and entered, she was met with Maxwell's seething anger, so intense that he didn't even seem to notice her presence. Walking over to the bed, she placed the tray of soup in front of him."Have your soup while it's still hot, it will help reduce your fever." Mellisa said her tone indifferently.

Maxwell lifted his head as he heard Melissa's voice, unsure of whether he should show her the video or not. He knew that one way or another, she was going to find out the truth. He figured the best option was to show her the video himself, rather than having her hear about it from someone else.

Maxwell felt a tightness in his throat and he swallowed hard. He looked at Melissa and said, "There's something I want to show you, but I need you to promise me that you'll stay calm, okay?" His voice was gentle, but his expression was serious.

Mellisa narrowed her eyes, her body heat rising as she tried to comprehend what Maxwell wanted to show her. She was sure that Zick had done something and Maxwell's expression only confirmed her suspicions. Swallowing hard, she asked, "Show me."

Maxwell gestured for her to sit on the bed and, without a word, Mellisa compiled. He then took her hand and said, "Always know that I believe you no matter what, okay?"

Mellisa nodded her heart heavy with dread. Maxwell then played the video and handed her the phone. When she saw the footage of herself engaging in a sexual act with five men at the same time, she was absolutely shocked, to the point that her hands started trembling.

The title of the video reads: The Deed That Mr. Zick Nadia's Ex-Wife Has Been Doing During Their Marriage in a Mission to Find a Richer Man." Apparently, Mellisa had been cheating on her husband with different guys to find someone richer than him. Eventually, she found Maxwell Williams and decided to leave her husband. Mr. Zick Nadia released this proof of his ex-wife's shameful deeds today.

Melissa's heart sank as she watched the video, her phone clattering to the floor. Tears brimmed in her eyes, threatening to fall. How could Zick do this to her? How could he humiliate her in front of the world? What had she done to deserve this? Why was he so obsessed with her when he had kicked her out of his house? What did he want from her?" I —-I didn't do all these things. B—--Believe me I didn't this video is fake. P—-Please believe. "Mellisa stammered, tears threatening to fall out of her eyes.

Maxwell held her hands with a small smile, trying to comfort her. "Mellisa, please don't cry. You promised not to cry ever again, didn't you?" he said, disapproval in his voice. "You will get through this, I know some people can be narrow-minded and try to humiliate you, but I know the kind of person you are and I will always believe in you. Michelle, Linda, and Shina will too. We are your family, so don't worry about what other people think when you are innocent, okay?"

Mellisa wiped away the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes, though she was hurt. She knew she shouldn't cry for something she didn't do. "Thank you, Maxwell, thank you so much," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. Without thinking, she hugged him tightly. Though she was trying hard to control her tears, her heart was in pain, she needed comfort.

Maxwell felt a pang in his heart as he held Mellisa, who was trembling in his arms. He knew he had to do something; he had to show Zick his rightful place, and he couldn't just sit by and watch him try to break Mellisa apart after all she had been through. Trying to lighten the mood, he asked her, "Mellisa, have you thought of the name you want us to name our babies?" Despite his efforts, Maxwell could sense that Mellisa was still holding back a lot. It was simply unacceptable for anyone to try to hurt her like this. He had to do something to stop it.

Mellisa smiled sadly at the mention of her baby. "The two boys will be Mexico and Maximus, and a girl will be Melina," she said, stroking her belly. But then, suddenly, Mellisa burst into tears, unable to control her emotions. It was a matter of her self-respect - how would she walk in the streets, what would people call her? A whore? A cheater? A characterless woman? A gold digger? As for her aunty Quincy, she would just say "An apple doesn't fall far from the tree - like mother, like daughter."

It was heartbreaking. Mellisa had lost her dignity the thing she had left with and he had questioned her character in front of the world. For a woman, respect is the most important thing, and now she had lost it.

Maxwell understood her pain very well; no woman in her right mind would smile at such humiliation. She was hurt and disrespected in front of the whole world. Maxwell said nothing but sat next to her.

After crying her heart out, Melissa wiped her tears. She had promised herself not to cry ever again, but everyone needed a time of weakness. "Take rest; I will go and take a rest in my room. I still need to continue with the dress later. Don't forget to take your medicine later," Melissa said, rising off the bed.

"I will take you to your room; you're not feeling well at all. You might fall down the stairs," Maxwell said, rising off the bed too.

The two of them walked out of the room and began to descend the stairs.

As they did, Mellisa was shocked to see Pathy Perry, who had just entered the house, waiting for her. "Hey, Mellisa," Pathy Perry greeted her with a smile. After watching the news, Pathy decided to come and talk to Mellisa before the media could start attacking her without knowing the whole truth.

Mellisa reached where Pathy was and flashed a sad smile, knowing that Pathy must be here to cancel their contract. "I understand why you are here," Mellisa said. "You can terminate the contract if you want. No one would want a prostitute to make their wedding dress anyways." Without wasting any more time, Mellisa ran to her room, leaving both Pathy and Maxwell with their mouths agape.

Maxwell signed and turned to Pathy, bringing out his phone to play a video of when Mellisa was kidnapped by Zick. "Before you can judge Mellisa, take a look at this video and imagine what she had to go through in two years of marriage with such a man," Maxwell said.

Pathy took the phone and watched the video, her eyes widening in shock and her muscles quivering in anger. "What?!" she exclaimed, her pulse speeding and her heart pounding. "How dare he abuse a woman like this and humiliate her on top of that? I'm not going to spare him. Hurting one woman is like hurting all the women in this earth, and he must be punished for everything he did to Mellisa, I don't know the whole truth but I'm going to show him his place using the same media even if I don't know the whole truth.
