Chapter 48 Enough.

"Thank you for not misunderstanding her; you are a stranger and I know that I shouldn't have shared her personal matters with you, but you are a woman, you understand her better than I can understand," Maxwell said. "I'm not used to begging people, but please don't terminate the contract with her; she was very happy and honoured to make your dress," Maxwell said, he realised that he can do anything for Meliss.

Pathy handed the phone back to Maxwell, frowning. "Why would I terminate the contract? I came here to check on Mellisa after such a terrible sex tape was released; I wanted to hear Mellisa's side of the story before the media gets to know about her being the one making my wedding dress," Pathy said.

"Oh! I didn't know," Maxwell said.

"Can you call her for me? I need to talk to Mellisa," Pathy said.

"You can take a seat," Maxwell said, gesturing to her to sit on the couch. "I will be right back. Don't talk to a woman who I know will definitely come here and feed you with lies, she has long black hair, black eyes, she is tall. Don't talk to her she is working with Mellisa's Ex-husband." Maxwell said.

"Okay." Pathy said waking to the couch and sat down, while Maxwell ran upstairs.

Maxwell opened the door to Mellisa's room, expecting to find her on the bed, but instead he found her in the corner, hugging her knees. He could tell she was hurting, but her face and tone were unreadable. With a sigh, he walked over and sat beside her. "Mellisa, are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and full of concern.

"I'm fine," Mellisa responded

but Maxwell wasn't convinced. He could tell she was far from okay, but he didn't press the issue. He simply stayed by her side, hoping that his presence would be enough to help her through whatever she was going through.

Maxwell felt a tightness in his throat and he swallowed hard as he watched Melissa lost in her own world full of pain. For two years, Zick had been abusing her, and yet she still refused to let him punish him. How was he supposed to watch her in this state of pain? "Mellisa, please don't be sad," he said softly. "I can't bear to see you in pain. Try to be happy for our babies, please."

Mellisa slowly turned her head to face Maxwell. Her expression was solemn as she began to speak. "My mother gave birth to me and left me with my uncle and his wife when I was only three months old," she said, her voice heavy with emotion. "I grew up without knowing her. She came back when I was seven, but she left again. When she came back a third time, I was ten years old, but this time, it was as a corpse." She smiled sadly, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she continued. "

My aunt became my mother, but she hated me so much that sometimes I would go to bed without eating anything. She would even chase me outside the house late at night, and I was so scared to sleep alone that I would often cry. I endured all of this without saying a word, never once talking back to my aunt or disrespecting her. However, when I turned 18, she arranged my marriage to Zick and I thought my life would change for the better, but it only got worse. Mellisa tried to stop her tears from falling as she said, "He would beat me up every day, change women every night and make love to them in my presence, yet I never said a word to him for the two years we were together. He eventually chased me out of his house, and I can't help but wonder, what does he want from me? Can't I be happy in life? Am I jinxed to be forever sad and crying?"

Maxwell opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out. He swallowed hard and forced himself to speak. "Mellisa, you deserve all the good things in this world. Your aunt, Zick, and your uncle don't know what they have lost, but I know what I have found - a gem of a person. You are different and unique from any other woman I've met. You are beautiful, smart, and lovable. You want to start your own career, even though you know I'm wealthy. You want nothing to do with me, even though you could easily trap me into giving you my money. You want to make something of yourself, which shows that you are the smartest woman I know, because instead of chasing after a rich man, you want to work hard and make your own money. Please, let me make you happy and forget about those who didn't see what they had lost.

Mellisa was overcome with emotion and hugged Maxwell tightly. Tears streamed down her face, but she made a promise to herself that this would be the last time she cried. She was deeply appreciative of Maxwell's comforting words, which gave her the courage to confront Zick and show him his place.

"Enough of crying, Mellisa," Maxwell said, pulling away from the hug. "It's time for you to prove your innocence in front of the whole country. I want you to tell everyone that the video is fake and that Zick is the one who wronged you. Today, I'm not going to take no for an answer. Save your excuses for yourself. It's time for you to show that monster his place, okay?"

" B—But. "

Mellisa opened her mouth to protest, but Maxwell cut her off. "Pathy wants to talk to you. After you're done talking to her, I'm going to call the media to this house. I want you to tell them that you are not a whore or whatever they have named you.

Mellisa rose off the floor, knowing that there was no use in arguing with him. She was grateful for the opportunity to clear her name and prove her innocence. Maxwell held her hand as they left the room, and Mellisa felt a sense of relief that she was being given a chance to redeem herself.
