Chapter 49

Reaching the sitting room, Melissa and Maxwell found Pathy waiting for them. Pathy quickly rose from the couch when her eyes fell on the two of them. Maxwell, seeing the tension between the two, spoke up, trying to ease the situation. "Mellisa, please don't vent your anger on her. I have to go out for some work, but hopefully by the time I come back, you will be done talking." With that, Maxwell left the house, leaving Pathy and Melissa alone.

Mellisa walked to the couch and sat down with Pathy following her. She nervously bit her lip, not wanting to meet Pathy's gaze. "I'm sorry for venting on you earlier," she said softly. "I was too angry to think properly. I didn't mean to be so rude."

Pathy smiled in understanding. "I understand," she said. "I'm sorry for everything that happened to you. We may not be best friends, but I want to help you clear your name of these accusations. You don't have to suffer in silence. There are women out there who are suffering and I want you to make a difference by speaking up for yourself and against woman abuse. Show men like Zick that a woman isn't a punching bag, but a human being who deserves to be loved.

Mellisa nodded her head and grimaced, conflicted. She knew that Zick never used his mind at all and was worried about what he might do if she took action against him and his obsession. But should she continue to suffer in silence and risk being harmed or her babies? Was it worth it?

Pathy snapped her out of her daze. "Mellisa, do you agree with what I'm saying?" she asked.

Mellisa sighed. "I've had enough of people who make me their doormat," she said. "I'm tired of crying and I'm going to make all those who have hurt me feel the same way I did. I'm starting with Zick."

Pathy smiled. "I'm so happy to hear that Mellisa. I'm here to help you do that," she said. She was grateful to be able to help someone who was being abused, as she had been unable to help her own mother when she was being abused by her father until her death."I've already made all the arrangements, I wanted to hear your opinion on this. The media will be here soon and get ready."

"But how will they believe me without having any proof? They will only believe Zick's videos and not me," Melissa said, her brow furrowing in worry. How could she stand in front of the media without having proof in hand? Of course, they were not going to believe anything she said, could they?

"There's something that can prove your innocence. I'm not going to let anyone humiliate you," Pathy said.

"But why are you interested in helping me? You are a famous celebrity, why are you interested in helping someone like me?" Melissa asked, her confusion evident.

Pathy smiled sadly. "It's a long story for another day. But I'm doing this to ease my own guilt. I couldn't do it for someone important to me, so I'm doing this for you," she said.

Mellisa could feel the pain in her tone, but she decided not to talk about it. "Thank you so much. I will be forever grateful to you," Mellisa said with a smile.

"Go and get ready." Pathy said.

Mellisa quickly ran to her room. Leaving Pathy alone.

Tina, who was standing at the corner of the sitting room, emerged from her hiding place with a look of disapproval. "So are you really going to help this illiterate, useless girl?" She asked as she walked to the couch and sat next to Pathy. "I mean, you are a famous celebrity and you are rich. Why bother with these good-for-nothing people?"

Pathy turned her attention to Tina, her eyes cold. "I'm a woman like Mellisa, what happened to her could happen to me in the future," she said.

Tina rolled her eyes. "How do you know if she's telling the truth? She could be lying to you about the whole thing. Illiterate people can go to any lengths to gain fame."

"Unfortunately, I know for a fact that Mellisa is not that kind of woman, even if I don't know her. I trust her," Pathy replied before Melissa came back from her room.

Missa settled on the couch, not paying any attention to Tina as she spoke. "I'm back, I didn't know what I should wear. I have few clothes, that's why I'm dressed like this," she said, feeling anxious.

Pathy tried to reassure her. "You are beautiful no matter what you wear, dear. The media will be here soon, I've already made all the arrangements," she said with a smile.

Mellisa couldn't help but voice her worries. "What if they won't believe me then? What if they believe Zick and not me, what will I do then?" she asked, feeling nervous.

Pathy tried to comfort her. "Mellisa, just know that by doing this, you will be helping all those women who are crying in silence, all those women who are disrespected by their husbands, and all those women who don't know their worth will hear from you today. So you don't have to worry," she said with a reassuring smile.

" Okay. "Mellisa said, feeling much better.

The group of media arrived,

The media personnel had quickly gathered in the sitting room of the luxurious house, setting up the interview space with cameras, microphones, and lights. Jason, the journalist, was seated on the couch in front of Melissa and Pathy, preparing his questions. He asked if his crew was ready and they nodded in response. The camera operator said, "We're all set, Jason."

Melissa nervously smiled and said, "Hello, everyone. I hope you're all doing well." Jason extended his hand and introduced himself, to which Melissa shook his hand. The producer then said to Melissa, "We're all set up in the living room. Follow me."

The group made their way to the living room, where Melissa took a seat in front of the cameras. Jason said to her, "We'll start with some easy questions to warm up, and then we'll dive into the more serious stuff. Are you ready?"

The cameras started rolling and the interview began.

"So, Miss Mellisa," Jason began, "I hope you know that we are alive right now." Mellisa nodded her head nervously. "Okay, my first question is how has your marriage life been with your ex-husband Zick Nadia?"

Mellisa took a deep breath before responding. "Well, to be honest, my marriage life with Zick has been nothing but horrible experiences. I'm so thankful to him for chasing me out of his house." She spoke honestly.

Jason raised his eyebrows in confusion. "So is it true that your husband chased you out of his house because you were cheating on him with lots of men? Is what was in your video true?" he asked.

Mellisa smiled sadly, playing with her finger. "I never cheated on Zick, but he was the one who cheated on me," Melissa said. "If you ask him to count all the women he slept with in my presence, he won't even remember. I respected my marriage with Zick, but he never respected our marriage. I know it was arranged, but he had no right to treat me the way he did, and I will never find it in my heart to forgive him."

"What do you mean when you say he had no right to disrespect you like that? How did he treat you? Can you explain that?"

Mellisa sighed, not wanting to humiliate Zick in front of the whole country. But the thought of all the dirty tricks he had played on her over the past two years, including posting a fake video online, made her angry.Who was he to do that to her, why should she care about him when he never cared for her. It was payback time and he deserved everything coming on his way.

Melissa had become lost in her own world, her fear of the situation taking over her senses. Pathy, who was sitting beside her, was the one to bring her back to reality. "Melissa," Pathy said, her voice gentle and reassuring. "Don't be afraid to tell the truth. You don't have to let your reputation be tarnished like this because of fear of him. He won't do anything to you with all these people around." Pathy's words were a comfort to Melissa, and she felt her fear begin to subside.
