Chapter 31 : Breakdown in the Woods

For the first time in a while, I actually felt safe in the coven master's arms.

I’d been a bit slow and he offered to carry me, something I hesitated to accept at first, but was open to after a few minutes of thought. My eyelids drooped as the vampire darted along at moderate speed, in more of a rush to get out of the mansion probably to avoid other vampires right now. Best to avoid questions and such.

We entered the cool, crisp night air, and I took a deep breath, feeling a little revitalized. The moon hung full tonight overhead, spilling some cool white light onto us as Nicholas slowed his steps and just wandered along.

He glanced at me in question, muttering, “Would you rather walk now, Lorelei?”

I contemplated this and nodded. Though I was a little bit wobbly, I could stand on my own two feet well enough.
