The week passed quickly, and it was now Saturday. The Chief called me yesterday and asked if I would like to come to his house for dinner with Eve so she would feel more comfortable having someone she knows and trusts close by while she gets to know her new family.
I agreed right away and promised to get her there on time.
She was quiet when I picked her up, and I held her hand in mine as I pulled out of the driveway.
She looked beautiful today, with her long hair falling in waves around her shoulders and a light amount of makeup that enhanced her features even more. She wore the same light blue sundress from the beach last weekend and some white flats.
"So, Little Bird. Homecoming is coming up. Do you want to go with me?" I asked, breaking the silence.
" Of course, I will go with you silly. I'm going with Penny and Tommy to look for a dress." She said,
After parking, I couldn't help but grab the back of Eve's head, pulling her in for a deep kiss. It was getting harder to control myself. The more time we spend together, the harder it is to stay away from her.
"If you keep kissing my sister like that, I might neuter you," Asher said in my head.
Reluctantly pulled away with a low growl as the passenger door opened.
"Come on, sister, Father is waiting," said Asher as he helped Eve out of the Jeep.
The front door opened when we stepped onto the porch. After a light squeeze of Little Bird's hand, I greeted my Chief.
"Greetings, Chief; I am honored to be invited into your home."
"No need for formalities today, Clayton," Said the Chief, "Oh, and Clay, I called your Grandfather this morning and asked if he would stop by later and look at Eve."
I nodded understanding, "I was planning to call him myself."
There was a poke to my side; when I looked down, Eve looked at me with a frown. "Who's your Grandfather?" she asked.
"My Grandfather is our healer, and my family has been healers for many generations. After graduation, I will begin training to learn how to become a shaman."
I stood there in awe as her whole face lit up with a big smile that nearly brought tears to my eyes.
"I think you would be a fantastic healer, Clay. You heal the people around you with your goofiness and that big heart. Most of all, you've healed me so much through your love and affection."
I couldn't hold back my tears when she wrapped her arms around my waist. I pulled my girl close and laid my head on the crook of her shoulder. Great Spirits above; I love her so damn much.
