Clayton

Goosebumps covered her skin before the white fur appeared, starting from her fingertips, up her arms, and over her body.

"Just like that, baby. Let the change happen."

I winced when she gasped as the bones in her jaw broke and grew into a muzzle. All I could do was sit here and watch as my mate changed.

An adorably tiny white wolf was in my lap a few minutes later. Great Spirits above, she was just as breathtakingly beautiful as a wolf.

She looked up at me with those big green eyes. That was the one thing about Guardians: normal animals don't have the same eye colors as humans.

"Your wolf is stunning, Little Bird," I told her with a kiss on her nose.

I lifted her into my arms as I slid from the bed, then carried her through the house and out the back door, setting her down in the grass. After stripping, I shifted into my wolf.

I licked her on the forehead and then sat down beside her. Her tail wagged a little before she stood on shaky legs. We only stayed in the backyard for now; I wanted her to get used to her new body before braving the maze of trees.

After a few hours, Eve was getting tired and ready to change. I shifted back before her so I could talk her through the change.

"All you have to do is picture what you look like in your human form, and your body will change," I explained.

With a whimper, her body began to change back into the woman I fell in love with. She was breathing heavily when the change was complete.

Shifting back is just as painful as shifting into your Guardian form.

I pulled on my shorts that I had left on the porch, then tried and failed to not look at her body as I slipped my shirt over her head. She was too quiet as I lifted her in my arms.

It took a lot of energy to shift and a long time to get used to it. Hell, I still wasn't used to it.

"Are you alright, Little Bird?" I asked

She nodded," Just a little sore and really tired," she said, snuggling into my chest. Holding tight to the other half of my soul, I took her inside and laid her on the bed.

"Rest for now, my heart; I will be here when you wake up," I told her, kissing her forehead.

Two weeks had passed, and we were now running through the forest. I stopped to let Eve catch up when I spotted a familiar black wolf up ahead.

"Harmony, what are you doing out here?" I growled through the pack link

"I'm out enjoying a run. Is that illegal now?" She asked, with a curl of her lip.

Sigh, "Of course not; I'm not that petty." I said.

Ice-cold fear filled me when I realized that Eve was nowhere behind me. When an agonizing howl filled the air, I turned and hurried through the trees to find my mate.

"Clay, stop!" Harmony yelled, running beside me.

"What did you do!" I yelled

"I just wanted her to be out of the way so that you would notice me," she replied

"Harmony, what the fuck did you do!" I was beyond panicked now; I was terrified.

I found Eve's scent mixed in with the scent of unfamiliar humans.

I rounded on Harmony, tackling her to the ground, with my teeth around her throat, "What the fuck did you do!" I growled

"I may have tipped off the humans about a shapeshifter running around the area." She said

"God damnit, Harmony!" I growled, releasing my hold on her; I lifted my head in an alarming howl as I ran fast towards the house.

I shifted when my paws touched the backyard. My mother ran towards me.

"Clay, what's wrong!" She yelled, looking panicked

"It's Eve, mother," I said, falling to my knees, "She's been taken."

"What do you mean?" Asked father as he stepped off the back deck.

"What should I do, father? I can feel her getting further and further away."

Cole, who was standing behind father, stalked forward and,

Smack!

I growled, lunging for my brother, but was held back by Flint.

"You need to get your shit together and explain what happened!" growled Cole.

I sucked in a deep breath, then explained everything that happened.

"I'm going to kill that bitch" growled Flint.

"We need to call the Chief and tell him what's happened. I know you're scared right now, son, but we could put her in danger if we don't use our heads." Father explained.
