Chapter XXVI

Jack is excited. And nervous. He's not sure which is winning. He is sure, though, that he can't wait for Vince to arrive. He can't wait to see him, to hear his voice again.

He sits down on the small bench in front of the library building and it's not long until he sees the other coming, walking towards him, frowning at the wind hitting his face and messing his hair. Jack forgets how to breathe.

"Hi!" Vince says softly, smiling down at Jack, who's staring at him, as if he’s seeing a mirage.

He blinks a few times and finally manages to smile back.

"Hi, Vin."

Vince smiles wider and sits down next to him.

"It's so cold." He mutters awkwardly, breathing hot air into his hands in an attempt to warm them up.

Jack couldn't tell. Somehow he's been feeling cold ever since he left that hospital room months ago. He still nods quietly observing as the other tries to get himself warm. He looks nervous, too, Jack notices.
