Memories

Falling from the sky, her wings coated her body as she landed at the very place they kidnapped her. On the hard pebble beach as scars appeared on her skin, which healed. She laid there on her back, staring at the bright blue sky and the peaceful clouds that didn't know better, before she forced herself onto her feet and walked inland. As she walked through the thick forest where memories flooded back again.

A hollow ticking sounded through the throne room, along with a clang of gold and the shaking of beads. Bare feet stepped onto the polished marble which shone like gold, white linen wrapped around the curved body of Azrael and a beaded chain silk down her body from her neck to feet while still wrapping around her body. The candles in the throne room flickered with every step she took. They lined her eyes with inky black kohl and her lips were in a deep red; a hound headdress sat on her cropped bob hair with beading intertwining into it.

Her scythe dragging next to her as she approaches Ramses' throne, his first born laid in his arms dying. Azrael looked up at the child as his soft hand caressed his father's face. A tear fell down her face, mixing with inky black eyeliner before falling to her feet, but her eyes caught Lucifer for the first time. He sat on the armrest next to the great pharaoh and his eyes were steady on the angel of death, ruby eyes fell on ivory ones. She took a step onto the stairs that lead up to the solid gold throne. Just as she stepped her foot on the golden steps, the child's hand fell; Ramses lifted his first born, cradling his child in his arms until he laid him in the arms of the statue, Osiris, but Azrael felt a tug on her hand and the boy appeared at her side.

She looked up at Lucifer again before turning away as the mournful screams flooded the evening sky of Egypt and Gostion.

She pushed the memories away as she pushed through the thick bushes and shrubs until another pulled at her mind.

Lucifer lounged across a couch in the dark underworld, his mood was in the dumps and all he wanted was Azrael because his latest experiment has failed him once more; as he dwelled in his misery, he felt her presences enter the space.

With his arm laying across his eyes, he moaned, "I thought you won't be visiting at this hour". Her jewelry clanged and shook as she kneel to face the body of long limbs.

"Well, I thought you might need some cheering up" a chorus of whimpering and soft puppy bark made Lucifer sit up in his seat "I just thought I would return what was rightfully yours" Azrael scratched the hound behind their ears.

A three headed pup looked up at Lucifer with big eyes. "The mortals have rejected another one of my gifts" he growled, fell back onto the couch and turned away from the pup who hung their heads in shame.

Azrael rolled her eyes and pulled Lucifer up into a sitting position before taking a seat behind him, wrapping her legs around his waist "if you stop trying to imitate your father, you will see the beauty in your creations" she grabbed onto Lucifer's afro and pulled it up to look at the puppy that jumped into his lap.

Lucifer stared down at the puppy who stared back before licking the devil, who slumped down to the ground and chuckled "Fire" he patted the right one on his head "Brimstone" he patted the middle on "and…"

"ooo, Fluffy" Azrael clapped her hands as Lucifer looked up at her, leaning his head against her legs.

He chuckled "Fire, Brimstone and Fluffy" he ruffled the dogs heads before turning to Azrael "thank you" he expressed as a blush flashed against her skin.

Azrael fell to her knees with her head tossed up to the sky when a memory came back the one she dreaded the most 'no' she whimpered as she laid her head against the ground with her hands around her neck, choking back tears.

***

Black sticky floor lay under her knees, her hands were chained behind her back, her feet chained up to the bar of the cell. Dark whispers around her caused her sleepless nights, some yelled at her to take them home but she couldn't, she didn't know how to because they were all trapped in this place; waiting on a verdict or rather a death date.

The doors to the prison grunted open and the voices instantly still, hard boots stomped their way to her, unlocking her chains and lifting her to her feet before cuffing her hands and ankles together:

She looked up at the guard whose face was pale and lifeless "please, I don't know where I am, who I am?" she grabbed onto his shirt "please help me" but all he did was slap her across her face and she fell before another guard just lifted her onto feet again.

Her head fell as they made their way through the prison, walking past prisoners who spit and glared at her, cursing her for their fate, calling witch and whore, she didn't know how to feel. The tightness whelmed up in her stomach and a lump formed in her throat, she was pulled through a door into the night sky.

She stared up at the stars before she was jerked forward, an angry crowd roared at the poor woman. Throwing anything they could find at her, spitting in her face, cursing her very life and asking for it to end, the guards pulled her up to a post which was surrounded by hay; they pushed her against the post, tied her hands and feet to it with chains, then moved one around her waist before they stepped back; she let her head fall as she stared at the hay that pricked her feet.

A priest began to recite some words that she didn't take notice of, all she could do was watch the hay get wet from her tears that fell down her face, when the words were uttered to her "do you have any last words?" the guard jerked the post to get her attention.

She stared into the crowd, their faces were filled with violence, they eyes fueled by hate and fear "please, I am not a witch" she cried, her voice lumped out by hurt "just let me go, I don't know what happened, I don't know who I am" she shouted over the shouting of people wanted her death.

"Enough" the priest shouted and raised his hand "you had your say. Now. Be punished!" he threw his hand down and the guards began to light haystacks on fire.

The fire traveled quickly under her feet, sweat began to drip down her body and her tears had soon dried. The chains burned against her skin which made her scream and whimper, she stared into the cheering crowd and staring back was a man dressed in a pinstriped suit; he didn't cheer, or shout horrid words or look anything like the people that surrounded him.

The fire consumed her feet and caught fire to the dress, she let out a blood curdling scream as her body went up in flames but her flesh didn't melt or turn to ash, she was just burning. The crowd quieted down watching in horror as she burned but never died. Her screams was only thing that could be heard through the town until the man in pinstriped suit began to walked towards the burn hay, his feet crushed into the fire, it burned his clothes but his skin was untouched as he made his way up the hay stacks as the towns people shouted and ran in the fear. The prison guards tried to shoot the man down but bullets seemed to break before it even touched him.

He looked down at the woman who was still screaming, her chains loosened and fell into the fire, she fell forward but he grabbed her, lifting up and teleporting out of there.

She woke to find him hovering over her, she moved instantly back until she hit a wall, she looked up to see they were in a barn "who are you?" she whispered with her knees to her chest.

"you truly don't remember" he mumbled to himself when she moved closer.

She reached out her hand "you know me" she asked, she saw a flash past his eyes and his lips began to tremble.

He shook his head "I used to" he whispered, pulling her closer to him

She stared up at him with big eyes. "Who am I?" he stared into the distance for a while, a sense of dread crossed his face before it fell into a sad smile.

He whimpered "Natasha…"

With her head down, the ground beneath her softened with her tears but she reached out a hand and grabbed the ground as she transformed. Her ripped clothes into pastel  pinstripes three piece suit with a blood red tied with her hair back into a stylish tucknfold mohawk, she pushed herself up onto her wedge heels but the look in her eyes had changed; tears no longer coated her cheeks and betrayal fueled her chest.

She emerged from the tick woods as the cabin came into view. She stomped towards the patio where the hound for hell barked before running towards her excited but when it sensed she had changed that she was different. It stopped halfway, taking in her atmosphere that surrounded her and it squirmed before running off with its tail between its legs.

The step creaked under her foot and only then did she realize that Poppy, Hela and Jasper sat in the sun's warmth. They all moved forward to welcome her but Azaerl reached behind herself, pulling the head of the Praeteritum and they froze in their tracks. Looking at the head of the monster as a silent gasp fell from their lips; standing to their feet but Azrael held up her free hand as if to silence them.

She moved past their frozen bodies and moved into the cabin and straight to the office, she kicked the door open to find a very calm Lucifer with his eyes glued to the plans laid out before him. He knew that she stood before him but didn't look up, the angel felt the anger around him but she didn't pay any mind to it; she stepped deeper into the room until she was right before him, Azrael opened her mouth to speak but he beat her to it:

"is this mission a joke to you" he said irritated by the thought "is my weakness, my throne mean nothing to you, just an excuse to get drunk with Hela and forget your purpose" he asked still not looking up as she narrowed her eyes and tinted her head "gallivanting in the woods, disappearing for days and when I needed you the most you were gone" he shouted with his head low, slamming his fist on the table.

Azrael didn't say a word but stepped forward and threw the bloodily head onto his clean sheets of paper. His eyes went wide before they found hers and as they did, she ran towards him and jumped up pinning him to the chair behind him while summoning her twin toothpick daggers, she stuck it into chair right next to his head while the other lay against his neck and she straddle his lap.

"I could kill you right here" she sneered through her teeth.

"And I wouldn't stop you," he said with gasp, looking into her eyes

"Where is scythe?" she demanded as he struggled to speak beneath her "WHERE IS SHE?!" she screamed as he lifted his hand and the weapons came flying into it, she stared at the beautiful piece of mental and this overwhelming feeling of finding a lost piece before she grabbed it and backed away from him.

"Azrael, I am…" she threw a dagger at him, just pasting his shoulder.

"don't apologize for the evil you have committed, for you know deep in your being you don't believe it" she made her way out of the office while he followed.

"You can't just leave " he asked with pain in his voice "what about me?" he asked as if he didn't do anything wrong, Azrael turned slowly towards him before pushing him to the ground.

"I want nothing to do with you" she looked into his eyes as tears formed in hers "I loved you, twice, with all my heart" his eyes filled with shock "and I was happy to put it aside for you, I was happy to be with you even if it was nothing but starved kissing and shivering drinkings" she slammed her fist against his chest "but you knew all this time, this betrayal, this life I lived for you and you still have the decency to ask me about you" Azrael stood to her feet in slump with her head low "don't ask me about you" she turned to move away but his hand reach out and grabbed her arm, stopping her from taking another step

In the faintest voice she had ever heard from him "what will you do now?" she didn't dare to look at him.

"I am going to see God" she said as she let her wings break free from its enchantment, before disappearing through the door, flew out of that place and all its memories.
