The world outside seemed to blur and then piece together in random spectrums of color, passing by rapidly and then changing as quickly as seconds ticked passed. Jaxx sped twice the speed limit away from the village and into the city, cutting off other vehicles, ignoring stop lights, just to get to where she was going.
Even still, there was a strange longing to return to where she had left Thea, which only served to push her further toward Charley.
Finally, Jaxx jerked into an open parking spot on the side of the road and pulled out her cell phone. Hurriedly, she punched in a message and then waited impatiently for a reply.
Ten minutes passed before a message was returned to her and it read simply: “I’m walking outside now.”
Jaxx’s jade eyes surveyed the street in front of her, looking for any sign of the woman, until finally she saw her. Black mini skirt, skintight halter top, and fishnet stockings that left nothing to the imagination.
