Chapter12: Prophesying

The next morning came much too quickly, but without the need for a wakeup call, Jaxx managed to tear herself out of bed much earlier than normal. Today she had a mission, an important one, and there was no time to dally. Despite that, she still took the time to stand in a freezing cold shower to further wake and refresh herself.

When she eventually came downstairs, she looked like an entirely different person. Her long hair was pulled into a high knot, showing off the shaved underside, and she’d even managed to spruce up her wardrobe…forgoing her normal jeans and t-shirt for a fitted black button down and tight jeans held up by a leather belt.

She appeared downright stylish, and the look seemed to add to her attitude, forcing her into a more focused mindset. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she took a turn into the kitchen and paused when her mother gave her the once over.

“Well,” Helene chirped. “Look at you.”

“Good morning,” Jaxx replied with a sheepish smile.
