The air of anger and resentment inside of the building was palpable, so much so that it settled on Jaxx’s skin in the form of a cold sweat that made her hair stand on end. Here, she had the one person that despised her since they were children holding the only two people she had ever been in love with captive.
Despite her best efforts, she had managed to fall into Jessup’s cleverly laid trap, and that fact alone made her blood boil. There would be no going back from this point, of that she was certain.
“You’ve really bitten off more than you can chew,” Jaxx said through gritted teeth.
“Really?” Jessup barked in amusement, brows high on his wrinkled forehead. “It seems to me you’re the one at the disadvantage.”
“You honestly think you’re going to walk away from this?”
“Oh, you plan to kill me, Jaxx? All things considered; I don’t think you have it in you.”
