Darkness swirled in all directions, heavy and unrelenting. There were voices, arguing, but the sounds remained faceless as Jaxx struggled to find consciousness once more. Her eyes fluttered and then finally opened, but the room was skewed. She tried to move, but her arms were bound behind her with something.
As things became clearer, Jaxx understood that she was slumped over on one side against a wall. Pain was the next sensation to resurface, throbbing throughout the entire left side of her head. Slowly, and with much effort, she forced herself upright and leaned back against the wall with a heavy sigh.
“I didn’t tell you to hit Thea!” someone said from seemingly far away.
“She was in the way, man, I don’t know what to tell ya.”
