21| I had no crush on his cousin

I woke up the morning after with a huge headache. I couldn't sleep, even in my sleeps, I was thinking all through the night about….. Dawson. How he felt and…. Would he ever see me the same as he used to when we fell in love back then in highschool?

I hope he understands that I had no crush on his cousin. What happened between us was foolishness. Immaturity and ignorance. It was a two times thing, nothing more. And nothing much.

I rubbed my temples, knowing fully well that migraine is about to occur. I got my pills from the drawer, took a gulp of water and it was BETTER than OKAY. I switched on my phone this morning because my parents might be calling my line. And my kids, they must have missed me for one night.

I don't think what I did was a bad idea. I want my kids to get to know Dawson's parents more than Jake. They're mistaking Jake as Dawson. Dawson is their biological father not Jake but because he took them in his arms since they were born and cared for them like his own children, they recognized him as the father.

"Where were you last night?" Jake barged into my office, furiously. Tightening his grasp on the edge of my desk. "Where did you intend to pass the night, entire day without my consent and you even took the kids along!" He exclaimed, madly. "Oh wow."

I completely ignored him as I focused my eyes on my laptop's screen.

He shut the laptop closed with a loud bang. "You don't give me that attitude when am talking to you."

I leaned my back on the chair, not ready for a fight this early morning especially with a migraine. "What's your problem, Jake?"

"My problem is you not telling me your whereabouts yesterday." He yelled.

"At least bring your voice down. This is a business area and my brain cells will worn out if you raise an alarm like that again." I warned him, wanting to open my laptop again but he pressed his hand on top, restricting me from touching it.

"I got this laptop for you, so I have the right to stop you from using it."

Fine. No problem. Since you got it for me, I won't drag it from you then. I said to myself and opened my briefcase. I have a spare laptop I bought with my own money.

He watched me take it out, opened it and began to work on it. I thought he won't stop me but I was wrong.

He dragged it from me and smashed it on the floor and that made me to rise on my feet with anger. "Are you sick? Or psych?"

His expression darkened as he head towards me in slow steps, "How dare you call me psych? Huh?" I feared for my life and began to retrieve backwards from my position. "You little bitchy woman, calling the soon-to-be CEO of the Anderson Empires and Anderson Airlines, psych?"

What? Hope it's not what am thinking? It's Dawson that used to be the head and president of the Anderson company. He is just the VP of the company. Has he been the one Blanca talked about before she died?

The next thing I heard was a loud slap on my face. I swear I saw white sparkling stars reflecting in my sight. My face twisted to the ground, causing me to fall on the couch helplessly as I lost my balance.

I screamed as I fell down flat, holding the burning spot.

"You brat, today, I'll show you a stuff am made off." He pounced on me and began to lace punches and slaps on my face like a punching bag. I screamed for help, I shouted to the highest pitch of my voice, but to no avail, no one could come in to my rescue.

If only this was the time my assistant would remind me I had a meeting. If this was the time anyone but not him could show up in this terrible scene. I never knew he was a woman beater. He has so much temper to keep in control. He gets mad with little things. Any little issues, he's savage. If I had knew this side of him, I wouldn't have stayed with him or have anything to do with him these years.

I thought he was responsible like his cousin, Dawson. Dawson has never one day raised his hands on me or hit me before. He pampered me till the very last day we parted ways.

I'm turning weak. My voice is turning down. I can barely speak or recognize an object right now. He's not stopping.

"Get off her, you bastard!" I heard a familiar deep voice gushed in with anger and pushed Jake to the ground. When I managed to lift myself upwards a bit, I realize it was Dawson. He was now the one lacing punches on Jake's face.

I gasped when I touched my face and found blood dripping out of my nostrils. Jake is almost dying. I can tell he is, as Dawson continues to beat him up with anger. I swear, I've never seen Dawson gets this mad and high with anyone before. If I had known, I'd be careful for what I wished for.

When I realize that Jake was turning unconscious, I quickly got up from the couch, though I felt my bones cracked, pain all over me but I managed to meet up with them.

"Dawson, please let him go." I pleaded on his behalf. But he continued to hit him even harder than before. I remember Luciana telling me one certain time when I recently met her son. She told me never to offend Dawson that the day I do, I'll surely regrets it. His other side is not friendly at all.

Jake was bleeding all over his face. He became too weak to defend himself. There was absolutely nothing I could do at the moment to help him out. He was in the middle of life and death if his brother refuses to stop.

I didn't know Dawson was very protective of me until now. The injuries Jake left on me is not even up to the ones Dawson is leaving on him. He beats him like an enemy. Like the devil arrives town.

Is it because Jake lays his filthy hands on me or because of what I told him yesterday? I really don't know.

"Dawson, please stop." When he didn't listened, I cried again, "For the sake of our kids."

His tight fist hung on the air, pointing directly to Jake's black eye.

Jake scoffed, spitting out a tooth. "Your kids? Just wait until you find out the real truth."

"You bastard, one more word from you and I'll skin your bones." Dawson threatened him, gritting his teeth.

What truth? I seem to be lost.

Dawson got off him. Jake somehow managed to find his standing posture again. His dark black eyes turned to me. He gave me a devilish smirk and then, turned to Dawson who was giving him a deadly glare. After, he staggered, limping on one foot with another hand over his shoulder, he left the office.

"Why did you hit him like that? He is your cousin brother."

"You're bleeding. I'll take you to the hospital and then, you'll no longer live with him."

"Really? And what was he talking about? The real truth?" I pointed out. "What truth? Are you hiding something from me, Mr. Anderson? Is there something I should kno—"

"Laura, just keep quiet and follow me." Before I could say a single word, he added with a firm tone, "You hear me?" I shook my head. Yes and he held my hand and took me out with him.
