Serious Guy, The Serial Killer

Mc Ivan's POV

Crime Scene:

“Daddy!” The family arrives.

“This isn't true officer, right? M-My h-husband, t-that's not him, right?” The wife of our Chief of Police holds my hand tight.

“H-He was just alive yesterday, h-he's alive and healthy, so h-how come? H-How come he's dead now? This i-isn't him officer, right? P-Please, please t-tell me, y-you g-got it wrong.” Her tears keep on flowing.

She can't accept the fact, and was begging for me to say so, what she wants to hear.

But that would be a lie. And we need to face the truth, no matter how hard it is.

I can't help but look at her with so much empathy in my eyes.

She cried even more when I didn't answer.

“Why? Who did this to him!” She kneeled while she was crying her heart out.

“My deepest condolences, Ma'am.” That's all I can say while caressing her back.

She was crying her tears out. Sobbing to the fact, that she's no longer have a husband.

Because he was killed, in a way they never wanted.

We never wanted.

Who wants to be killed like that? I guess, no one.

Especially, if you still wanna live.

Oh, how I hope I can do something to lessen her pain.

It pains us to see the victim's family like this.

The family of the Chief of Police are all crying in vain as they see the dead body of their beloved family member.

Everyone will feel this way, and that's understandable. The pain they're feeling is unbearable. And, I'm certain, they love the victim so much.

Every victim, was loved by their family.

Chief of Police, Tagiobon, is a great leader, and definitely a great father, a husband, and a son to his family.

I can't believe someone will do this to him.

His body was found near the creek of the famous Silway river.

He was already dead when found, and floating in the river.

One of the neighbors found him.

His eyes are still open, and there's a mark in his neck.

It was still fresh, and you can really see that he tried to survive because of some scratches on her neck and face.

He tried to fight for his life.

But he failed…

He was strangled to death, that's for sure.

And he was holding a paper.

The famous green paper…

The paper we hate to see.

Because it only means one thing…

It's Serious Guy.

It's his new victim.

Based on our initial investigation, he's 10 hours dead.

So, probably, it just happened last night around midnight. Maybe, when he went home from the party he attended.

His wife told us that he had somewhere to go with the high-ranking officers to celebrate someone's promotion.

His husband never comes home late often, he rarely do good times and relax, they didn't know that one the often relaxation will become a threat and killed him.

She didn't know that the next thing she will see his husband, will be her husband's death body.

“Sir, we saw this on the crime scene. A green paper again, with the same note from our previous cases.” I said to our Deputy Police Chief, Mr. Doldolia, and handed the note inside the zip lock.

He stared at it for quite a while.

The note that says, “Don't Laugh”

He sighed.

He knows, we all know. Who wouldn't know anyway?

“So it was Serious Guy's doing, again.” It wasn't a question to be answered.

It was a statement because he was sure of the answer.

We are all sure of the answer.

Even me, I am already sure the moment I saw that paper.

Because it was written, with the same handwriting.

He is talking about the serial killer in our town— Serious Guy, that's what we call him.

Why? Because he made sure to leave a trace. And that's a piece of paper saying “Don't laugh”.

He never failed to forget that, it's like he's mocking us, that we can't catch him.

That he will never stop killing, until we catch him.

I don't know if he's just crazy, or someone who wants to be recognized by killing too many people.

At first, we thought he's just some ordinary killer.

But when he's victim starts from one turns to two, three, four and so on.

No trace, only that green note.

And there we realized, he's a psychopath.

That all people laughing at him, will surely be killed.

“Make sure to call the forensic investigator. We just hope the killer made a mistake this time and left a fingerprint, or any evidence.” He said sounds so determined to find the culprit.

He's close to the Chief of Police, so I'm sure he's devastated as we are right now.

The amount of pressure on his shoulder, the victim's agony, and the anxious citizen in our small town.

He's been shouldering everything.

Among all of us, he's more determined to catch Serious Guy.

This is the first time, Serious Guy killed a police officer. And not just a police officer, it's someone with a high rank…

He's not afraid.

He's not afraid with whomever he'll kill. And even the President of the country laughed at him, I'm pretty convinced, he'll find ways to kill him.

And it's scary to think.

Because it only means one thing. . .

Nobody couldn't stop him.

He will keep on killing, whoever he wants to kill, as long as “maybe” they laughed at him.

“Sir, we already call the forensic investigators, they will arrive in 10 mins.” Pol. Sgt. Nichol said.

“Okay. Sgt. sum up everything here. I have to attend the press conference.” We saluted as our Deputy Chief left.

While we are left there looking at the bereaved family full of sympathy in our eyes.

“How can someone do this, sir?” I asked all of a sudden.

Sgt. Nichol just took a deep sighed.

“I hope I can answer that question, all we need to do is catch him, no matter what.” He answered.

“Maybe, he really hates laughing so much that it made him kill people.” I sighed.

“Perhaps, so we better be careful, let's not laugh.” He said before leaving me.

“Until when we'll control ourselves to laugh?” Prete on my side said.

She's also one of the investigation unit inspectors.

“Maybe, not until we catch him.” Castino answered.

“But when?” Prete asked.

“That's the question everyone wanted to be answered.”

And we all take a deep sighed.
