Let me go

"Are you sure Uncle will allow you to travel to France, knowing the reason?" Chloe asked her, playing with a spoon and fork on the empty plate at the dining table.

"Without any doubt, it would be a struggle I will go through, but he has to allow me at the end." Abigail winked at the end after she answered her. Abigail had tied her dark brown hair in a high ponytail that reached below her shoulders; her hair was silky and straight like her mother's, and her teal eyes had expertise in hiding her emotions until she wanted to express them.

Wearing a high-neck green color shirt with jeans below, she and her friends were waiting for her father, Charles William, at dinner.

Kimberly, whose blonde hair gives a perfect look to her slim face and rosy cheeks, smiled at Chloe when she rolled her eyes at Abigail's winking.

"You're so difficult to understand; at one moment, you are cheering; at another moment, you are irked." Chloe was worried, which caused her to get irritated quickly. She shoved her phone inside the pocket and rested her face in her palms.

Releasing her breath, Abigail leaned forward and held her hand softly, "I know you want to help me; you were always with me from the day we came here. Things will get tougher now; you must keep your nerves strong." Chloe nodded and tapped her hand assuring.

"What a pleasant surprise! My three daughters are here and waiting for me. Is today any celebration that I forgot?" Charles William was stunned when he saw his daughter and her best friends in the dining room. Girls hugged him one by one, and they all took their place when he sat in the chair specified for the head of the house.

All enjoyed dinner. Girls talked about the duties they performed as a doctor, and he discussed his daily routine with them.

They finished dinner and were eating dessert. Charles William asked the question he waited for them to answer without getting him to ask.

"What is it you all are here today?" His gaze was on Abigail, but they all know he asked from all three, whoever was willing to answer.

"Dad, I want to go to France" Abigail started the conversation with her dad.

Charles William was wiping his mouth from a napkin, but his hand halted when he heard her. However, he immediately overcome and continued what he was doing,

"And why? Haven't you been at the job to attend? He asked, his eyes squinted and forehead creased, one can clearly see his displease from his face and tone.

Chloe and Kimberly, exchange gazes anxiously.

"I've applied for vacations, and as I never took leave before, they said I will be granted," Abigail told him, prepared already, although her heart was pounding between her lungs, nonetheless, she tried her best to stay calm.

"Reason?" His voice was stern. Chloe and Kimberly were quiet; they trust Abigail, that she would be prepared already for every question and get what she wanted at last.

"I got the lead in mum's case, and for this, we must travel there." Abigail never hid anything from her father. He knew his daughter was working as a detective at night, and she was looking for the person behind his and his wife Adele's accident.

"Abigail, It will be dangerous there. I can't take the risk of losing you. I came here leaving that country behind to keep you safe, and now you want me to throw you in danger with my own hands?" emotions took over him and saddened him with the memories from the past.

"I am a martial arts fighter, have a license to keep a gun for my safety, and besides no one knows I am alive. People back there think we all died years ago." Abigail held his hand and tried to convince him her all body was like pleading for permission.

"No" was the answer he gave her; he retreated his hand from her grip and left his chair. When he reached the room's exit, he heard his daughter's quavered voice.

"Ten years, it has been ten years. I see you holding mum's hand daily for hours, speaking to her, and asking her to wake up; for ten years, I have had mum but not beside me whenever I need her. I want to catch that person who did this to us, and you can't stop me." Chloe and Kimberly were standing with her, looking at him pleadingly.

Charles's heart ached to see his daughter in pain and agony, it was not easy for the father-daughter at all to see Adele on the bed for ten years, she was with them but at the same time, she was not.

"I worked hard to collect evidence. I promise, dad. I will bring that person to your and her court while keeping myself safe. Let me go, please, dad" tears rolled down her cheeks, her body shaking from crying.

Charles William looked at his daughter with love and sadness. He took defeated steps toward her, taking her in his warmth.

"You know very well how to blackmail me, huh? Always force me to make the most difficult decisions." He smiled sadly and wiped her tears

"Okay, go and find your culprit." He then looked at Chloe and Kimberly.

"Make sure you all come back to me with success and safety." He patted the heads of all three girls and exited and headed to his room, where his wife was lying silently but he was thankful for this that at least she was here listening to him, he needed her the most right now, only she has that capability to soothe his pain.
