Chapter 64

"I.. I didn't know you had to go through all that Adrian. Your Dad shouldn't have abused you because of your Mom. You didn't deserve being treated that way" Kelly says and Adrian laughs bitterly.

"It's not my Dad's fault.. the man was broken. His company was on the verge of collapsing and his wife who was his college sweet heart walked away from him and their 5 year old son" he says and Kelly gulps not knowing what else to say to him.

"Whenever Dad sobered up and he realizes what he did to me he'll always come to apologise to me telling me he's sorry and then he'll start to cry again" he says.

"So.. what killed your Dad? Was he sick?" Kelly asks. "No.. he wasn't sick.. he was run over by a car one night on his way back home after getting drunk" Adrian simply says.

"Oh!.. " Kelly says and covers her mouth in shock. "Was the driver arrested?" She asks "No.. he wasn't.. because he was never caught. My Uncle tried everything he could to follow up the case for my Dad's murder but, it was all in vain. The driver and the car disappeared" Adrian says and he can't help the tears that are streaming down his face as he sobs.

Kelly looks at him and she feels like pulling him in for a hug but she isn't sure of how he'll react to that. She studies him for some seconds and then She decides to go for the hug.

"Adrian.." she says as she wraps her arms around him pulling him to herself and he doesn't struggle or push her away instead he buries his head on her chest as she caresses his hair.

"Shhhh.. shh.. it's okay.. it's okay Adrian" she says to him still soothing his hair and then his back as he cries into her chest.

Adrian and Kelly stay like that for a while and Kelly just holds him in her arms.

Kelly checks her wrist watch and it's 10:00pm. Adrian finally retrieves himself from Kelly's arms.

"It's late Adrian I should get going" Kelly says. "Stay Kelly.." Adrian says and Kelly looks at him surprised that he's telling her to stay back again.

"Uhh.. it's fine Adrian I can go back besides the rain has stopped" Kelly says.

"Please... Kelly.. stay" he says to her in a calm voice and Kelly notices that his eyes are swollen.

With a sigh she says "Okay" and he curls up on the carpet. Kelly has never seen Adrian like this before. He looked so vulnerable and she felt really sorry for him.

" You should probably get to bed it's not really comfortable to lay on the carpet" Kelly says. And he looks up to her as she walks to him and helps him up.

"Come.. I'll help you to bed" Kelly says and she puts his hand over her shoulder and wraps her other hand around his waist as she walks with him to his room.
