Chapter 24

"It still doesn’t change anything."

how I wish they are really my mates or whatever they call it.

He stood up all of a sudden “we have to leave before they wake up," his eyes were at an alert.

If he thinks I will blindly follow him again, then he have a surprise coming his way.

“ why should I trust you again? You betrayed me before, what will stop you from doing it again?”

His countenance felled "I later regretted my actions, yes it’s true that initially I was taking you back to our pack, but when I got to spend time with you, I couldn’t bring myself to hurt an innocent person.

I was meant to believe you were an outlaw running from our Alpha, by the time I learnt the truth, I was torn between my duty to my Alpha and helping an I innocent person in danger," he looked sad that I almost believed his acting.

“Playing with a person’s head is your past time, this was your way the first time. Who knows if they want another burst of laughter and decided to send their best actor to do the job." I sat still on the floor, with his clothes my only weapon should he try something funny.

His cheeks pinked in embarrassment “you can’t always judge people by their past deeds."

“And you can’t trust the people that hurt you, they might pretend to change, but they are silently planning on ways to hurt you the most." I countered.

I followed him like a sheep to his master, and he led me to the slaughter house without any thoughts towards me.

I trusted him like a friend and he stabbed me in the back.

The saying “ in life, there are genuine friends and there are fake friends who only have one agenda in mind, to bring you to your ruin." is true, but I’ve never believed in it until it happened to me.

I believe everyone that smiles at me is a friend, not knowing the ones who smile broadly are smiling at my imagined downfall.

“Looking at it from my perspective, you will know am not at fault as you think l am."

I tried to talk, but he held his hands up silencing whatever comeback I have for him “I wasn’t there when you were kidnapped. As the best tracker in the pack, they sought my help after fruitlessly searching for you. I can’t reject an order from the Beta I mean second in command.

I tracked and found the outlaw as they called you. They know I won’t want anything to do with the tracking if the person in question is innocent, they made me believe you’re a threat to our pack and capturing you will ensure the safety of my pack, that was why I agreed in the first place.

You might not trust me, but most if the things I told you then are the truths and nothing but.

five minutes in your presence made me question their words, but I still took you towards the pack thinking you’re those best actors.

When your behavior proved otherwise, I decided then that I will take you back to your pack, consequences damned.

If I die trying, it’s better than not trying at all," his words makes sense if you look at it from a different perspective, but still I can’t trust him.

“Why didn’t you make a move to help me when they captured me?

you could have at least put up a fight or is it that you don’t want them to know you were helping me?” I accused.

“if I did just that, we wouldn’t he been here right now, I know am strong but I can’t take on seven men alone talk more of the Beta and Gamma."

I let his cult slangs slid, no use putting them out to him since he will make use of them again, sooner or later irrespective of my corrections.

“How do I know you’re saying the truth?” he pointed at the clothes on my body.

“those are covered in my scent” his words made no sense, I was asking why I should believe him and his telling me his clothes are covered in his smell, what a D.

“How does that concern my question?”

His face dawned in realization at my question “with you masked in my scent, it will take them long to realize you’re not in the camp and if they chase after us, they will think am the only one on the route not you.

Before their dull brain can catch up with the riddle, we will be halfway to your town."he looked pleading at me.

“ we need to move fast, they will be awake any moment from now and we need to be out of here before that happens,"  he stood up and motioned for me to do the same.

“remove your clothes." He commanded.

His words made me  sharply look up  at him.

what’s he trying to do?

“What do you mean by that?”

his cheeks pinked in realization

“ I mean you should change clothes, remove yours and put on mine,"he looked expectedly at me.

I stood still waiting for him to turn. I will be damned if I change with him watching me.

“aren’t you going to change?”

“aren’t you going to turn?” I frown at him.

with cheeks blazing hot, he turned giving me his back when I was sure he won’t turn, I hurriedly changed clothes.

His trousers was a little too big for me and I had to tie it tightly to my waist.

“you’re free to turn now," I held my clothes in my hand.

he slowly turned, looking me up from head to toe, he nodded his approval.

“I thought the wouldn’t fit, but they did. You look different in my clothes."

my cheeks pinked, don’t judge.

I can't help myself if a hot guy compliments my look, but that wouldn’t Make me date him. My heart  alreadybelongs to three identical triplets.

“Give me your clothes." He stretched out his hand.

I gave them to him without any protest.

I will do as he says for now, but if he tries anything funny, I will show him that I grew up in three different Africa’s countries.
