Miguel's pov
As I walked on to the place I know they will be in, I can't help the thoughts taking root in my brain.
My heart started beating loudly the moment I saw my mates.
They're as they were when I left the town. Nothing have changed in their appearance.
They still look the same as they did almost a year ago.
They're putting on blue washed jeans. Damien was putting on blue shirt, while Daniel had on a red shirt. Donald had on a yellow shirt.
Looking at them, one will think they're the same person who happened to have doppelgangers.
"You came?" Daniel asked when I came to stand in front of them, a small notable distance between us.
I stood there mouth tied as I looked at my mates who're acting more like strangers than my mates.
I've always imagined the day I will meet my mates, but none of my imagined scenerios prepared me for this meeting.
"Miguel?" Donald called out to me.
"You still remember my name?" I asked. Of all the things I could have said, this was the first that came to mind.
"Why shouldn't we?" Damien looked confused.
I wave my hand "forget I asked the question. What are you doing here?"
I went straight to the point when I deduced they won't do so until I make mention of it.
Daniel looked at my stomach before turning to his brothers who gave him curt nods "here's not safe for you anymore Miguel. You have to leave this town."
I looked at them mouth agape. My first time seeing my mates on like a year, and this is what they say to me?
"Where will I go if not here? " are they planning on taking me home with them?
Are they now regretting on their decision of sending me packing, and have come to take me back?
Is this their style of telling me they want me home with them?
"You can go to Seattle, or anywhere else Miguel, but don't stay here," Donald answered " it's not safe here anymore for you. You've been discovered."
I scoff at his words " almost a year since we've last seen, and this is what you came all the way from your town to tell me?
You aren't here to see your babies like I thought. You're just here to give me a useless warning? " I laughed without humour.
Here I was thinking of a perfect reunion with my mates , but it turned out they don't have anything concerning the reunion in mind.
I look t them to gauge their reactions when I mentioned babies instead of baby, but they didn't bate an eyelash. There was nothing yo signify their surprise at my word.
"It's not a useless warning Miguel. You have to leave here now. "
I laughed " you came all the way here to tell me of this deadly threat or whatever, and you expect me to believe you? " I raised a brow " why should I believe your words? tell me one tangible reason why I should believe your words are true? "
I look back to make sure Mond and Solomon aren't watching us or something like that.
" Miguel please. You've got to believe us. Your life and the... your life is at stake," Daniel pleads..
"You really don't want to mention the babies? you're afraid of it being true if you recognize them?" I smirked.
They exchanged look with each other. I don't doubt they're communicating with each other.
" Miguel your life is important. You're important," Donald sighs " we don't want anything happening to you."
"Important you say? " I walk closer to them, but they take more steps back as if afraid of being in contact with me.
"Why did you break up with me when am this important to you?
Why aren't you here for me and my babies if am important to you?" I stopped advancing closer to them when I deduced they will never allow me touch them.
" Why are you avoiding my touch if am important to you? What's to show you care for me? what's to show you care for my babies?"
What's to show in their behaviour towards me that am actually important to them? what's to show my importance to them?
Donald turned his face to the side "we didn't say we care for you Miguel. We're trying to protect you for old times sake, and nothing more.
We might have cared for you then, but we don't anymore."
His words made me stagger back a bit. My heart felt like it was sliced open after months of trying to heal itself back.
" You....you don't care for me?"
I know I heard it from them on the night of our graduation dance, but I was hoping they came here yo confess their undying love for my baby and I.
I thought they came because they're regretting their actions towards me when I was pregnant, but it turned out they don't care, at least not anymore.
"We cared for you as out mate before, but not anymore. We don't care for you anymore. The earlier you know of it, the better for you." Damien said those words with no emotion at all.
His face in an expressionless mark.
They don't care for me anymore. They feel nothing whatsoever for me.
"You don't even want to reconsider because of your babies? you don't at least want to see them? to feel them in your arms?" I blink at them.
At least, they will want to meet their children. They'll want to see the babies they fathered.
" We don't want anything that concerns you Miguel. We want absolutely nothing to do with you. They're now your babies, we want nothing to do with them as we don't want with you.
It's over between us Miguel, and have been for more than ten months now," Donald said as he kept his face to the side as if afraid of looking at me. Afraid of seeing the expression on my face.
