Chapter 141

Miguel's pov

"I don't know where I kept it. it must have fallen from my hand when I was carrying this heavy box in."

She have her face at anything but my face.

Looking at her and how nervous she is about things made me know she must be hiding something.

"Whatever you're hiding mom, I will find out sooner or later."

"Am not hiding anything. I just don't know where I dropped the paper," she looks behind, and towards the parlour " it must have fallen somewhere."

I didn't say anything, I just returned back to my bed to rest my aching back.

It seems my baby girl doesn't like being stressed.

"How's Matilda?" I ask mom who was still busy arranging the baby's clothing "is she still acting strange?"

Matilda is the seven years old child mother have been babysitting ever since we came here. Mother have countless of times complained about the girl and her odd behavior.

"I don't know if it's right to say she's getting worse. Today I found her with her legs clutching the chandelier, and her head towards the earth. How she got carried up there, only she can tell."

Mom shrugs like it all doesn't concern her, but I know better.

Mom always gets affected with things Matilda does because most of them are too harmful for a seven year old.

When mom started working as her nanny she never complained about Matilda until two weeks into her work.

That was when she started becoming reckless till it became much for mom she had to report her to get parents.

But what did the parents do?

They brushed it off as things children do, and made mom swear not to tell any stranger of the things she sees.

Their easy brush off made mom suspect something else going on with not only the family but the entire town.

A town whose occupants gives birth to not more than two children each.

No one in this strange town have given birth to more than two kids.

"Yesterday when she locked herself inside her closet, I could have sworn I heard two voices, but when I asked her out, she was the only one who came out from there. The owner of the second voice was nowhere to be found, and when I asked her that, she claimed ignorance."

Strange things really are happening in this world. Strange things I never knew to be real until I walked into Haji town.

Haji town was what opened my eyes to the possibilities of mystic creatures being real and all that.

Since Werewolves are real, what's to say that witches, Vampires, fairies, elves and zombies are not in existence?

There's nothing unbelievable in this world now to me. I believe practically everything now.

After seeing the moon goddess, am prepared to believe ghosts do exist.

" What did you think of that?" I raised a brow in question.

Mom have never being one to talk of mystical things, if anything she believes most things are better left the way they are.

She shrugs "strange things are happening in this town Miguel. I know you're not ignorant of most of the things happening here."

She takes up the box she placed on my table " I will go arrange this stuffs in the kitchen. You can take a rest, have a nap. You look like you need it."

She walks out my room, gently closing the door beside her.

What would I have done without mother?

I don't think I would have lasted a day after my mates dumped me if not for mother who was there to lend a helping hand to me.

Mother who made sure I wasn't drowning in grieve. She's a mother worth having; one in a billion trillion.

With mom gone to the kitchen, I rose up from the bed and walked towards my closet which is now overflowing with baby's clothes.

"Darling," I caressed my Stomach, and in turn I got a kick on both sides of my stomach.

"What a kicker I have," I laughed as I jabbed both sides to show her am feeling her as she does me.

In answer, I got two kicks on the sides of my stomach. My baby girl sure will throw a lot of tantrums, more than me( I guess she took after me in that).

I touched the clothes one after a time before I walked back to my bed to take a much needed rest.

*

A month later, and am standing outside a library that was just recently open.

It's funny though, there's no school in this town like Haji pack, but they still have a library?

How are they able to read without attending school?

Not even a kindergarten can be spotted in this oddness of a school.

When we first came here, i thought this place was odd. Not only because everyone in their town have red hair, but their peculiar abilities to communicate without actually talking.

At first I thought they were wolves until I let it slip one fateful morning during one of my numerous job searches.

Well let's say what happened next wasn't all that favourable as I found myself outside the door in less than two minutes; an impossible fit for that matter.

Since then, I've learnt my lessons; never mention a wolf where they're concerned.

Wolves and the people of this town are not on friendly terms.

I walked into the library after I must have taken more than twenty minutes into trying to compose myself and equally check out my outfit.

Today am putting on lose pants with a little bit over seized shirt to hide the baby bump am spotting.

The town's people thinks me odd enough without knowing am pregnant. Talk more of when they catch whiff of my four months pregnant self.

"Good morning," I called out to the red haired male who was sorting things out. His back was towards me.

"Good m..."

a gasp left out mouth when I saw who it was that backed me

"Mond?"

"Miguel?"
