Chapter 275 If Wishes Are Horses

  Xylie's Point of view….

Rory And I have been on this tour since morning and I am enjoying every bit of her company. She is fun and free spirited and I love her kind of person. She has mood swings but manages it well which is okay.

I don't know but I feel connected to her, like I don't want this friendship of ours to end. If wishes are horses I would be riding on them by now.

But then I don't forget that we get what we want by putting actions into it. It's your actions that make your dreams reality.

Then what can't be will not be even if we fight heaven and earth for it, so one has to trade carefully when it comes to the matter that concerns the heart.

Rory pulled me and I looked at her to see her waving at something I can't make out what it is.

   "See Xylie"

She shouted and still pointed at whatever that caught her fancy. I looked hard yet I found nothing.

"What am I to see Rory?"

I questioned her. She hit her head with her palms and hissed audibly.

"I can't believe you can't see that lake over there"

She said getting upset a little,I looked and saw the lake she was talking about. I can't believe the lake was there all along. But why did I not see it at first or maybe I did not focus enough to see it.

"Sorry Rory about that but what about the lake?"

She smiled and turned to me.

"You see this lake over there, I learnt how to swim with the lake."

She said and started walking towards it. I followed her to see what was so special about the lake that brought so much eagerness in her eyes. She might have a history with the lake.

We got to the lake bank and she sat down not minding that it's not advisable for her to do so and before I could pull her up she pulled me down instead and I cursed silently when I landed on the dirty ground.

"What the heck Rory?, this place is not nice to sit upon"

I said with my voice so low, afraid of her getting sad as she always does.

"Sorry I did not think about that. I am so excited that I am dying to tell you the story behind the lake that I did not give a thought about the ground. We could clean up after"

She said and I sighed. I wondered what is special about the lake. I stare at the lake to see how colourless the water is unlike so many lakes I have come across. The current was flowing flawlessly and I felt a sense of peace from it. The environment quietened a bit and I felt Rory entwined her hands with mine.

"You know Xylie, I am so happy that you are sitting right here with me. It gladdens my heart. Here is my favorite place before I transformed and every single day I came here to settle my spirit because it calms my soul"

My stares were on her all through. I would say she has got something special to say about the lake to make her talk so passionately.

"So tell me Rory, what's up with the lake"

I said and she smiled.

"It all began when I was a little girl who had no care in the world. A girl who sees opportunities in everything and would not want to miss out on something. I was that girl who would go the extra mile to take risks without thinking of the outcome. Life was always easy with the people you cared about and those that cared about you. Nothing bothers me, I was Rory, the carefree little girl.

The story of this lake has to do with one of my adventures as a little girl. A friend had dared me to a swimming challenge and I had sheepishly agreed knowing full well that I could not swim but because I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by,I took the challenge.

On that fateful day after I had sneaked out of the house because mom would surely question me if she had seen me and there was no way I was going to lie to her so it's better for her not to see me leave the house and that was what happened.

I got here and my friend was already here waiting for me. The challenge began with her. There was a prize for whoever that wins the swimming challenge and there you know what the prize is Xylie?"

She asked at last with her attention focused on the lake. There was no way I would know the prize.

"I don't know, why don't you tell me"

I said and she smiled then frowned.
