Chapter 276 Life Without Risk

     She put up her hand on her jaw in thinking motion. I swear Rory is indeed beautiful. The way her lips curve when she smiles or the way her lips curl up when she is sad or the wrinkle in her face when she frowns. She is the master of her emotions.

  "The prize was the Lion's son."

She said immediately and I looked at her sharply. The Lion's son?

"What do you mean by the lion's son"?"

I asked confused, she smiled and looked away.

   The Lion's son does not necessarily mean the lion' son. What it means is that the winner will win the heart of the kizito, the half breed who is called the Lion's son

   She said then looked back at me.

     "Who is kizito?"

"Well kizito was the son of a human among us as of that time. His mother was a witch. How come about kizito being a half breed was his father who was a hunter somehow wandered into south and could not find his way out, saved the kizito's mom from a lion that almost killed her and the heart wants what it want led the two to fall in love and the product of that love is Kizito. The mom died a few years later,the reason is yet Unknown.``

  She concluded the story but I felt the story was not yet over.

    "Why would the prize be Kizito, was he special for being a half breed or what?"

    "Kizito was discovered to have a special power which was kept hidden from the people at large. There were only a few people that knew about it and I was among the few people and Sizo was aware too."

  She replied then stood up and went closer to the lake. There was no need asking her who Sizo is because I already knew she was the girl who dared her to the swimming challenge.

    "What kind of power?"

I asked her, there is an untold story from this story. I felt the unsaid words,her actions state it clearly.

   "He has the power of speed which the few people that know about it could not tell the source because his mom has no such power and the dad had no power at all. Since the source could not be found, his kindred stopped searching for answers and awaited what he is to become unfortunately he never lived, he dies before the witch race could discover him"

She sighed and walked back to me. I could tell that Rory and Kizito had a pass. The way she mentioned his death awakened something in me and I knew right there that Kizito might not have died ordinarily.

   "He died?"

I asked and pulled her down to my lap and made her sit comfortably.

 "Yes he died and his cause of death was never known. Everything about Kizito was mysterious."

She replied and pinched my nose which gained a smile from me.

  "Ouch!that hurts"

I said and wriggled my nose out of her reach,she laughed heartily.

   "So tell me, what became the outcome of the swimming challenge?"

   Well, the fact that I don't know how to swim made me lose the challenge. I always drowned if not because of Kizito. The winner was to win the heart of the lion's son but the loser ended up winning his heart.

    She smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

  "You know why I like life, it's because it gives unexpected expectations. Sizo made that challenge knowing full well that I could not swim and at the end she would win the heart of Kizito but life showed her that things are not done that way. Don't always use people's weaknesses against them because the consequences are severe."

   I thought about what she said and I could agree less. Life does not always work like that. You don't cheat people you know why, because karma is real and it will surely visit you.

   "So you are telling me that you and Kizito kicked off as friends after he saved you from drowning. What did Sizo do?"

I asked her. I know definitely that Sizo was never going to cross her hands over the issue.

  "Well she did nothing. We stopped being friends. And when mom heard about the adventure she nearly skinned alive. But I love the fact that I took that risk, life without risk is risk itself. I know that we did not stay as friends for long but Kitizo was a friend that if there is a way I will bring him back to life I will because he deserves a second chance "

  Of Course everyone deserves a second chance and some friends are indispensable.

   "It's all in the past now, thanks Rory for telling me your lake story. It means a lot to me"

   She smiled then pulled me up.

I consider you a friend and I am open to friends. I think we have had enough so let's continue our tour"

  I chuckled and allowed her to pull me. We are going to be friends for long.
