Nora's point of view….
Ben had insisted we go for lunch and Jeff could not stop being himself. He was giggling and looking for trouble here and there and I admit I enjoyed his company. He is a cheerful child when he wants to be but disturb if he has to.
Ben's stares were on both of us throughout the drive to the restaurant, I saw the admiration in his eyes and I was so damned happy. He loves kids by all indications.
We got to the restaurant and it's not a familiar restaurant anyway. It looks cool and classic and I bet their food will be great. Knowing the kind of family Ben is from,I did not expect him to ever visit a place like this but what am I saying, the restaurant he met me was lower in class yet he was there. So if he could visit that one, he would definitely come here.
He is not pompous like the fathers after him and it's a good trait because I would not want my kids to have boastful traits, I hate those who think highly of themselves, bashing the existence of other beings. They think the world revolves around them.
We were welcomed warmly by the security at the door of the restaurant and Jeff had to pick a race immediately we got inside which I had to chase him. I see he loves running because this is the second time he is making me chase him in a few minutes. Assuming he is my son, I will need all the strength to get his attention. I did not think Ben followed but I did not look back to see if he was following because I had got a child to chase after.
Hopefully before today, let my strength not get exhausted from looking out for Jeff.
Jeff got to the center of the restaurant and halted.
"Wooow this place is cool"
He shouted and all eyes turned towards our direction and that moment, Ben got to us and Bent on front of Jeff.
"Jeff, don't go about running like that, do you want your auntie to break her legs!"
Ben cautions him meanly and Jeff stepped back with tears almost running down his face. I opened my mouth wide then closed them, what's up with him. Jeff should not be dramatic.
Ben hissed silently looking frustrated and I don't blame him because it takes will to be able to deal with someone like Jeff and on top of it he gets emotional issues.
"Ben, easy on him please"
I said and bent on their levels and pulled Jeff towards me.
"Jeff, you have got to be a good boy wherever you are. Here is not a playing ground, it's an eatery and the owner will not appreciate having a child running around. And Uncle Ben does not mean to shout at you so no need to cry because we love you and that's why we want you to be a good boy."
I said and ruffled his hair and he smiled with tears in his eyes.
"I am sorry uncle Ben, I didn't mean to stress you, it's just that I have not been to a place like this. Where I am from, we don't have places like this everywhere. It's only the rich kids that visit a place like this. I will be a good boy from now on, okay"
He apologized pouting his lips and I smiled looking at how adorable he is. Ben could not help but to smile.
"Alright Jeff, I hear you. I understand and I promise you that you will enjoy here and if we get to know your family maybe once in a while, Nora and I will take you out. How about?"
His eyes lit up,he began jumping and clapping at the same time, I laughed and Ben did too. The people had returned their attention back to their table minding their business like it should be. Humans have degrees when it comes to business minding. They will never interfere in what does not concern them.
But then, the world is not supposed to be like that, we are supposed to have our backs at all times.
Forever,I will prefer witches to humans.
Ben stood up and I did too, I took Jeff by the hands and walked forward in a search of a table. We found one and headed towards it.
It was by the right corner of the entrance and it will give us the privacy we need.
It was not a normal seater like most restaurants have, this one has a couch as seaters.
Settling down on our table with Jeff in the middle of Ben and I. A waitress came towards us and smiled down at us when she got to us and we returned the gesture.
"Welcome to Charlie's, what would you like to have?"
She asked with her eyes on Jeff only and I got curious. She figured out that I caught her staring at Jeff and she smiled sheepishly.
"You have got a cute little boy"
She said and made to touch Jeff but Jeff jumped on me clinging to my neck.
