The whole kitchen floor was littered with flour. A sound escaped my mouth and they both turned, looking so horrific. Ben had flour on his cheeks and eyebrows while Jeff had all over his face. Their looks were funny but I could not bring myself to laugh. Is this the way Ben and his kids would cut out work for me. No way they would try it or unless we do them together.
"Sorry"
Ben muttered and pointed at Jeff
"It's his fault, he made me littered the flour"
I was like what the heck? Is he trying to play a blame game?
Jeff glared at him and look at me
"Auntie Nora, don't ever listen to him, it is his fault. He was so stubborn, I was just trying to tell him that flour is not handled this way but he was not listening to me. He was proving to be a big boy when it's obvious he is a big baby"
He said and crossed his arms, I opened my mouth as he said all he said and Ben was not left in shock either.
I blinked my eyes severally to see if it's Jeff or someone else. Ben recovered from his shock and glared at him
"I am so sure that I am not the one you are referring to as a big baby if not no more ice cream for you. I am done here"
He said and stormed out of the kitchen looking really angry.
I sucked in breath and realized that having Jeff and Ben at the same time would be tiring. It's a bad combo, I would not wish to have a son like Jeff because Ben can't handle him .
"Jeff that was rude, go find your uncle and apologize to him while I clean up here and by the way what were you guys about making?"
He looked up at me and dropped his hands.
"Alright, I would apologise. I asked for a pancake and Uncle volunteered to do that for me only to find out that he doesn't have a clue on how to make a pancake. I asked if we could wake you up but he said no that he will try and manage. I am sorry I said what I said, let me go and apologize to him.
He said looking really upset. I want him to apologize no because he feels he has apologized for apology sake but because I want him to realise that he was rude and adults are not being talked to like that. Sometimes it's really frustrating when kids try to annoy you,it takes a great patience for you to understand kids. I can relate.
"Jeff, you are wrong. I want you to go to Uncle Ben and apologize to him not because I asked you to and forget about what he said concerning ice cream, he will definitely buy you ice cream tomorrow, I promise."
"Alright auntie Nora"
He said and left. I sighed and stared at the mess again. Just a few hours and my house was already turning upside down. What happens when I leave two of them for a day or more. It will definitely not happen because Jeff is going back to his family tomorrow.
"Pancake he said"
I said and began clearing off everything. I picked my dust pain and floor brush and began to sweep the floor.
I finished sweeping the floor and wet my kitchen towel and began to wipe off any flour off my counter. The wasted flour was enough to feed Jeff.
Satisfied with how clean the kitchen is, the next thing was to make the pancake for him.
Heaven knows that if it was when we returned, I would not have had any single strength. Taking a nap did me some good, my energy is back.
Thank goodness that all I need for the pancake is right here if not, there is no "not".
I chuckled at myself. Before, there was no "not" but these days I have got a lot of "not".
Things are changing and the only thing that is constant is change.
I don't know how hungry Jeff is so I don't have to stand here and I admire a clean floor.
The remaining flour was laying carelessly on the counter beside me.
I weighed it and it was going to be enough for three people.
I was set to make the pancake so I got three raw eggs, butter, evaporated milk,3 tablespoons of sugar, nutmeg and chill pepper and the flour too. I just want to prepare the local pancake not a regular pancake and I hope the two boys would love it.
I added a bowl and a batter spoon to my list. I looked at all I have got and I smiled, it was just left for me to do what I have to do then the pancake would be ready in a jiffy. It's not something that takes time.
I heard Jeff and Ben arguing and I shook my head, I don't know if they would tolerate each other in case Jeff is to stay longer.
