Two maidens came into the garden with refreshments. I bet you this will not be anything close to what we have in Beverly, it has to be South made. But come to think of it, was I expecting otherwise?.
They fixed it in front of us, they had come in with a local stool made from bamboo. So the refreshments were placed on top of and they bowed before leaving.
"I think some refreshments will do us some good especially to those who only visit South when they are in trouble and forget that South is still their home"
Gina said with a straight face and I knew she was referring to me. This lady and her funny attitude. Gina can only be Gina, forget witch princess and all that, she would never change.
"I bet you were not referring to me though, maybe is Govey"
"I think the lady knows herself so there will not be need mentioning names"
She responded, smirking, I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever"
Govey laughed at my silly attitude. I am glad she did because it's either she smiled or nodded her head to whatever me and Gina said, contributing to nothing except for once or twice.
The refreshments consist of a local fresh juice made from bay leaves and a local cake made from oat. These two things are what we use to welcome you here in the South. Your host loves you so much because they both represent love. The way a witch will not fail to welcome another with water, is the same with bay leaf juice and oat cake.
It's been a long time since I ate these, almost a century now.
Govey eyes lit when she saw what was brought to us.
I can't believe I will be eating these two, it's been a while now. Thanks princess, this was so thoughtful of you.
Govey smiled
"I recently started eating these and I love them and my baby loves them too. It's like everyday stuff for me. Like I can't believe I will get adapted to the way things are here but if I don't who will?, my home is here and it lies with my mate so it's a take or leave."
Life is indeed Unpredictable. We who were born and bred here have not talked so passionately about the South but someone who was born in a civilized world is doing so effortlessly. I realized that our taste in things will change overtime.
"So ladies and ladies, enjoy"
Gina said and I gave her a look.
Does she have to be like this?.
Could have given it to her back and forth but the Lord came in and she instantly became moody. I remembered she said she was going to report Chris to me. It seems they are not on good terms, I wondered what the problem is?
"Good day ladies, I see you all are enjoying yourself"
Chris said and kissed Gina's cheeks then her forehead. I smiled and Govey did the same.
Gina kept her face without a smile even when Chris caressed her cheeks.
"Well nice to finally meet you, I have heard so much about you"
Govey said and Chris turned his attention to her. The juice and the cake was still untouched by us and with the way things are I don't think we will be touching them any time soon.
"Nice to meet you too, you are?"
"I am Govey from the East, a friend of Nora."
"Oh I see, a friend of Nora is a friend of ours so you are welcome"
Chris said and returned his attention back to Gina.
"I decided to check on the Lordress who has got some visitors, I will leave you all to enjoy yourselves."
"Aye your highness, we will surely, we are just getting started anyway."
I said and he smiled then left us. Gina shook her head and sighed. I was like I hope these two are not fighting?
"Gina, is there something?"
She looked at me and tears dropped from her eyes. Govey was dumbfounded at the sight of the crying queen.
"It's fine, Nora. He is just punishing me for a little mistake and he wants me to act cool"
She replied and wiped her tears. I don't think she was ready to talk about it, maybe because Govey is here and I understand.
"I don't know what the problem is, you should figure yourselves out."
Govey rubbed her back and she calmed a bit.
"What Nora said is right. Mates are not meant to be angry with each other. Remember you are pregnant and if you are sad, the baby will not be comfortable so make up with your mate later"
Govey said, Gina nodded her head and smiled. I gave her an assuring smile.
"Thanks to you all, being pregnant has made me get emotional at a slight thing. We will make up, I promise"
She assured us both and I could not help smiling.
"That's the right thing to do"
