Chapter 375 Special Grace

Gracie point of view....

   In few days, I will be turning Seventeen and mom had finally allowed me to go see the world outside the woods. I used to love here but lately the urge to go live far from the woods got stronger.

   I have never asked Mom why we live here and I don't think I know why we had to live here but whatever it is, it's fine because the wood brought out the best in me.

  I have got accustomed to it that I could talk to animals of all kinds and I feel special about it because I have not seen anyone who communicate with the animals.

  My school mate found me weird and I have not be able to understand why. Until I finished High school, I have got no friend yet I never got bothered because the animals where more of friends to me and my mom is my best friend so I literally want no friends apart from the above mentioned friends.

   I sighed and knot my knuckles. I was sitting at the veranda looking  out at to the woods. Mom came in carrying  a cup of water and handed it to me then sat beside me.

   "Thanks Mom for the water"

I said and drank the water at ago.

  "You are welcome darling. I can't believe you are finally leaving me all alone here. It's fine, you can't possibly stay in the woods forever. You need to go out and found out more about the world and I believe that the experience you had from the woods will help you in a long while. I am so proud of you, you have done so much and you have kept me company for so long. Thanks dear"

I kept the cup beside me and took her hands in mine.

   "Mom, I should be the one thanking you. You have done more than you should. You love me despite my flaws. I gave you tough time yet you did not give up on me. You believe that I am special and asked me never to doubt my personality. I am who I am today, mom, because of you. I am grateful and you will remain my number one person in my life. Thanks for birthing me."

   She smiled at me and withdrew her hand from mine.

  "Gracie, I am sure you don't know why I named you Gracie. I named you Gracie because you have a special kind of Grace that I don't understand and with what I have seen so far from when you were tender to now, I can't seems to explain it but one thing is sure, you are not just a girl but one with a special grace and as you go into the world to create a world for yourself, don't forget that you are special to this poor woman here. Don't always forget to visit. You are always welcome here."

       "I will not forget mom"

I told her, she nodded her head and stood up.

    "I am making dinner. Come inside in next a few minutes, it will be ready by then."

She said and left.

   I know she is trying to prove to me that my moving out will not affect her but it is affecting her already and it's is written all over her. I wished there is away I could stay but I can't forever stay in the woods.

    Like I promised her, I will always come visit. I looked at my wrist and stared at the scar there. It was a tooth bite and I can't remember how I got it. I guess I got it when I was a baby.

   But the bite is so beautiful. The bite was carved in a beautiful way and each time I touch it, I will feel sparks. I have wanted to talk to Mom about it and I felt she will be worried so I never bothered her with it. It's not everything I could tell her because she can easily get worried. She does not know that I can talk to animals, I have successfully hidden it from her and Maybe when she might find out, it would not be a big deal again.

     I looked up and saw a shadow, as long I can remember the shadow had always been there. I blinked and it was gone like always.

   I stood up and went inside to go have dinner with Mom. It was almost nightfall and need to get ready because I will be leaving for town tomorrow.

   I have gotten an apartment, done with everything. It's just for me to move in.
