Chapter 390 Lead By Example

    "She reads minds but not all minds"

I wondered.

  "You could have just asked without wondering. I read the minds of good people. I used to read all minds but I found out that bad people are so many and I could not stand to see that you are a bad person and I can't do anything to stop you so I wished to read only good minds"

Huddy explained and I shrugged off my shoulders.

  "Okay, so you are able to read my mind because I am a good person. That's good to know that I am good."

I chipped in and closed my eyes.

   "So Gracie, how do you get to start talking with animals?"

  "I don't know, I grew up knowing I can talk to animals and a lot others I can do"

   "Then if you can talk to animals, you are special then. I hope we can be friends because great minds work together"

I was not surprised by her utterance. A minding reading rabbit should be hundred years old and that means a lot of wisdom.

Dad and I left the valley and headed down town.

  "As a leader, the people come first. A leader serves his people. Your people should matter to you, their welfare should mean a lot to you. Be a leader that your people will be proud of which will make them stand for you in times of trouble. A United Kingdom wins thousands of wars. Lead by example."

Dad continued to lecture me. Today's walk is the last one we both will do before he hands power over to me and I have already started feeling the weight of the responsibilities on my shoulders.

  If my dad can lead his people for more than 20 years, I could do more than that so I would have to make up my mind and accept who I am because there's no way I am going to run away from being the Southern prince.

  Being the Southern prince is not just a title but a title with a load of responsibilities on it.

   "When I could not become the lord because my uncle was not ready to let go. I did not give up and I waited for hundred and half years before that dream of mine came true. I did not fight for my inheritance because of the name or fame but for the good of the people. Left for me, I could just let my uncle have the throne for eternity but I saw the people were in pain and agony, I decided to not think about myself but them. What am I trying to tell you?. Be a sacrificial lamb. Being good takes more than we can give but with determination and inner strength, one will be able to be the better version of himself.

   Dad paused and stopped then turned and faced me.

   "You have a lot of potential in you. Although I don't know my grandfather but each time I look at you, I see him. You are his reincarnated self and from what I heard, he was a wise lord and I know you to be a wise person. Never rush into a decision. When you feel you are at Cross road, talk to your mate. She is your guide and life, I repeat, your guide and life"

He turned and continued walking.

   I called this handover speech. Since I was born, dad has not spoken to me this much in a day yet every minute of the day,I am with him learning the affairs of the kingdom.

   "Your mom had to come back twice to fight alongside with me. You are lucky Theophilus because you have known your mate since you were a kid. I know my mate was born but I did not get to know about her until twenty years back.  Knowing your mate since birth would not make you not to cherish her, cherish her like she is the air you breath. Of course, she is the air you breath. I know my son and I am aware of the things he can do. Above all, let your heart lead you at all times and you will never regret you did."

  When he kept silent for a while, I knew he was done talking.

   "Thanks dad, I will keep everything you said today in mind. I won't not disappoint you"

  "That's my son"
