Chapter 439 How Fast Kids Grow

 Abigail's point of view…..

Talking to mom relieved me. I was going to the lounge where my grandma and grandpa are to thank them for the gift.

I passed the huge mirror on the wall and I nearly did not recognize myself. I stopped to analyze myself. The reflection of the girl in the mirror looked vicious. It's me but not me entirely. Am I supposed to experience a change in my appearance?

   "Who are you?"

I asked myself and I got a shock when my reflection smiled. I touched my face to see if I was smiling but I was not. Okay, this is creepy.

"I am surprised at you Abigail, why are you running away from who you are? The girl in the mirror is the real you. The earlier you realize that one can't run away from destiny the better for you."

A shocker, I am talking about that she smiled and she talked?.

It must be a voice in my head and nothing more.

I shook my head and walked away.

I got to the lounge, grandma Sharon and grandpa Frank were talking about something when I walked in. Grandpa was the first to see me and he smiled.

  "Come here darling."

I walked to him and he enveloped me in his arms.

"Our little girl has grown, now she is getting married. How fast kids grow. We think they will stay with us forever and when they ready to move out, it will shocks us"

Grandma said and hugged me after grandfather.

I pulled away and smiled at them.

"Grandma, grandpa, how are you both doing?"

"We are fine as you can see. Abigail, why black?"

I did not understand her at first until she stared at me for some time. She was talking about the dress.

   "I love it Black, grandma"

"Strange"

She muttered and looked away.

"Huh?"

"Nothing darling, I don't know if it matters now but on a day like this. You are not supposed to wear black. It's a bad omen. You mom did not tell you?"

  She said restless.

"Mom never mentioned it but I am okay with it. Nothing to worry about"

"Sharon, things change. It's not the way it was on our days that it it's these days. I don't think wearing Black is bad. Look at her, it's compliment her skin"

Grandpa said and she said nothing. I was relieved that the black will not mean a thing.

   "Let the party begin"

We all heard and turned towards the direction of the voice. It was that little boy that came to my room earlier. That annoying brat.

"I declare my party open not you and besides, the party is not here it is at the garden"

I replied to him and what did he do? He puffed his cheeks at me and turned his back on me.

"Who cares whose party it is. What matters is that there was an opening not who opened it. I am hungry so hurry up princess and come into the garden. Everyone is wait for the celebrant"

The guts for me, the little boy, have some nerves. I am rude but his rudeness is way bigger than mine and to my greatest surprise, I was the only one who was pissed at him. Grandma and Grandpa did not care at the manner in which he spoke.

What I was planning to do to him was cut short by the arrival of mom and dad.

A smile crept to my face.

Mom and Dad were beautifully and handsomely dressed on this tailored fabric. I don't know why they had to wear it today but she said a friend of hers sent it to them from Africa. I loved it but my dream of wearing one will not come to pass because the South does not permit any other wear.

"Wow! Mom and Dad, you both are looking pretty. I wish I could have one of these but the South does not permit any"

"I am sorry my darling but you will get better dresses there. The South has the best made dresses in the world"

Mom said, smiling. She was just trying to cheer me up.

"It's fine, I am not complaining again"

I said and showed them my teeth

"Shall we? the people are waiting"

Dad announced and left with mom, followed by grandpa and grandma. It was only me and the little brat that was left behind. I bent to his level

"Be careful not to receive a slap from me"

I glared at him and left too, I am sure he followed through.
