Chapter 25: A Date With My Old Buddies

I couldn't believe that some people would be this heartless and cruel to the core. What a wicked world we live in and I just pray that Gabriel's father can recover from this whole trauma

"Is he back in the united states right now, I will really like to pay him a visit tomorrow"- I asked 

"Yes, he is back and he is also receiving treatment too. His work place gave him three months leave and also paid $20,000 for his upkeep.

 They really helped us quite well and I am grateful for that"- Gabriel answered with a smile on his face

Kelvin on the other hand however sat down and stared at the ceiling of the car like someone who got attacked by some bandits. The news about Gabriel's past life must have really hit him hard in the Heart.

  They were so close back then in high school and I can vividly remember how Kelvin would shower Gabriel with nice gifts during his birthday. Good old times really matters in this world 

"I am really sorry for all you have been through. We couldn't get close to each other after high school, I thought I would never see you again bro. 

  But here you are, I promise to look after and care for all your family needs. Tomorrow I would personally speak with our family doctor to ensure that a proper test is conducted on your dad, I can't bear to see you in this pain"- Kelvin replied in a low tone 

Those kind words of Kelvin really touched my heart and I could see that he has good and lovely intentions towards Gabriel.

  I looked at the both of them and I was filled with joy to be in the midst of my good old friends from high school.

"Thank you very much bro, these words mean a lot to me. Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve all these, I left you guys for close to two years without even saying goodbye and here I am today"- Gabriel replied looking so hard on himself

"You don't have to conderm yourself like that, we understand that you had no choice. But what matters is that you are here with us and I promise to protect you with everything I can"- I replied while putting my hands on his shoulder

He seemed quite happy with my words and he let out a sign of relief. We were already running late for the meeting with Michael and I am pretty sure that he would be waiting for us patiently

"By the way, let's take you to meet our other old school class mate Micheal. He is even waiting for us as we speak"- Kelvin said as he turned on the car and started driving

Gabriel seemed quite surprised by the fact that Michael was also around too. They were like cat and rat.

  They never agreed with each other, but I guess maturity would have taken a big toll on them by now 

"Alright, let's start moving. we have wasted more than enough time already"- I said

Kelvin stated driving the car and we moved quite  fast than usual until we got to the restaurant. I could even sight Micheal through the transparent glass window on the restaurant.

  He was sitting with another girl, was that his girlfriend?. I asked myself trying to take a good look at what I am seeing 

"What's wrong bro, did we come to wrong place or are we off course?"- Gabriel asked, trying to look in the same direction

"Nothing much, just that I am seeing two people instead of one"- I replied

Kelvin started laughing again as he came down from the car 

"Perhaps he has taken another bottle of Hennessy and that's why his head and his eyes are seeing double"- Kelvin said out loud

Gabriel equally burst into laughter as he walked towards the restaurant

"It's only the rich that have money to afford Hennessy. Poor people like me reside with coke and pineapple juice"- Gabriel replied

I don't know why Gabriel often refers to himself as a poor dude, no one is poor in life. Poverty starts from the mindset and you can only let it win you when you believe in such imaginations

  He might not have access to good cars and good looking clothes, but he is still okay to me. And besides I might even take him along with me to Washington DC if possible

"Stop with all these cheap talks of yours, you are big boy too. Stop trying to act like a poor man"- I replied while putting on some eye shades to make myself look sexy and elegant

we walked into the restaurant like Billionaires and we didn't even mind the way some people were staring at us. It's quite normal for me 

  People usually stare at me because I do put on expensive wristwatches, gold chain and sometimes I even go as far as wearing some ear rings. I kinda look cool with ear rings and I don't give a damn word about people's opinion. 

We carefully walked up to Micheal and gave him a surprise by slapping his back, that's they way we usually surprise ourselves. It's kinda weird, but it's fun especially when the slap hits him hard on the back 

"Hey, what did you do that for?. I have told you not to try that kind of surprise on me. I had told you a million times that I don't like it.

  The next time you try a thing like that, I would shove a wood into your dirty butt hole"- Micheal replied jokingly

Gabriel stared at Micheal for a while, he was obviously lost in thoughts. The last time they saw each other was in high school and they even had a fight at the school cafeteria before they parted ways 

"Meet our old time Friend Gabriel, I know you guys had a beef in high school. But let's put that behind us and move forward"- I called out to Micheal

The both of them looked at each other for a while before they finally shook hands together. It was as if they were quite surprised to see each other in person after so many years 

"It's nice to meet you Micheal, sorry about the things I did to you in the past. Perhaps we can start a new beginning and look forward to a better days ahead"- Gabriel said while looking into Micheal's eyes 

Micheal smiled and they both hugged each other like brothers, it's really nice to hook up with your old friends and settle your differences because you never can tell who will help you in the future.

"It's good to meet you bro, I have forgiven you and I have even forgotten about the past till you just reminded about it. We have so much to achieve together and I won't let our childish actions in the past break our relationship"- Micheal replied

I sat down on the chair close to Micheal's table as I vividly stared into the girl that sat besides him. She equally stared at me back and her eyes was so lovely.

  I think that she is his girlfriend, because a random girl can not just walk up to your table and take a seat. Micheal observed what was going on and he felt the urge to introduce the girl to us because we were all staring at her at some point.

"Ummmm. Please guys meet my new girlfriend Alexia. she was the girl that spoke to you guys on the phone"- Micheal replied

"Nice to meet you beautiful princess, I guess you guys must have dated for quite a long time"- Kelvin said

"Nah, our relationship is just three months old. He said I should accompany him to see his friends and here I am"- Alexia replied

We looked at each other with smiles on our faces as we called out to the waiter who was waiting to take our order 

"What can I offer you gentle men?"- The waiter asked 

"I would like fried rice and chicken, with salad by the side. Then for the drink, I would like a glass of red wine"- Alexia placed her order 

"Bring me noodles and some pineapple juice,"- Gabriel place his order 

I looked quite ashamed by Gabriel's order, but I was quite happy that we went for what he thought was moderate to him. But I don't want it to look as if he is the middle class amongst us 

  So I decided to place a good order for everybody

"I don't know what might be your choice of preference. But I think we all should also eat some pizza. 

  So bring us a large size pizza, fried rice, red wine and three bottles of pineapple juices. Let's all dine in style"- I replied to the waiter

"That's sound nice"- The three of them all corresponded with my order and the waiter left immediately.

"So you said you needed to discuss something important with me"- Micheal called out to me and Kelvin 

"Yes, I have something to tell you and I don't know if you would like to discuss it in the presence of your girlfriend"- I replied

Alexia looked a bit puzzled by my words, she wasn't expecting that at all and she might even start looking at me in a bad way.

  But I was only trying to be real and straight forward

"We can discuss in her presence and besides where would she even go to, because the hall is filled to the brim and they are no available seats right now. so it's best she stays here and besides I don't hide anything from her.

  She is the love of my life and we both share our deepest secrets with each other, that's what makes our love even more stronger than ever"- Micheal said with a smile on his face 

Alexia started blushing when she heard Micheal's romantic speech, she wasn't expecting that at all and it's quite okay if Micheal doesn't see anything wrong.

  And since she is going to be part of the discussion, she will also contribute so that we can all come up with a good decision that would benefit all of us 

"Here are your orders fellas, thanks for paying a visit to us and we hope to get your recommendations and reviews on our app and website"- The waiter said 

We all agreed and the waiter went back to attend to another customer. I was still staring at Alexia even when she obviously didn't want to look back at me because I suggested that she leave the table so that we could discuss some vital issues.

"This food looks so good in the eye and I hope it also tastes nice in the stomach too. Because I am damn hungry right now and I don't mind consuming a full cow."- Gabriel replied as we all burst into laughter 

The food tasted so nice when it touched my tongue, I kept on eating more slices of pizza till I became satisfied. It was really delicious and I would surely leave a review about this food on their app or website.

  Kelvin on the other hand however ate so gently that it would be quite hard to know if he was actually enjoying the food or not. But he didn't mention anything bad after finished up, so I guess he was quite satisfied with the food 

"Now my stomach feels so happy, I haven't eaten all day. was about going to my mom's shop to ask her for some change that I could use to purchase a bugger when you guys picked me up"- Gabriel spoke out loud 

I felt quite embarrassed by that speech of he's. Why on earth would he bring himself so low like that 

  I know it's good to be true and real in everything you do, but you have to maintain a good and wealthy profile when hanging out with other people

Alexia looked at Gabriel like someone who is below her status and I could vividly see that she wasn't comfortable with his simplicity. And I didn't like this so I had to back up my friend

"One thing that I love about you is your simplicity, you are always simple and Truthful even if it hurts so bad. I can assure you that things would never be the same

  I would take good care of you like my very own blood brother and we will cruise the world together"- I replied back to Gabriel

He obviously seemed so touched by my words to the extent that he let out a tear. he has gone through a lot at such a young age and it really changed his view towards life.

  Alexia on the other hand however felt quite impressed by the fact that I didn't let my friend down even when he acted so poor.

"You must come from an average family not to have eaten all day"- Alexia replied in tone that would easily give the impression that she was mocking Gabriel

"Hey, he has gone through a lot that you won't even imagine. I do like that fact that he revealed his true self unlike some people who are pretending to be rich and classy"- Kelvin blowed hot 

Micheal felt angry by that word and he looked at Kelvin with anger in his eyes. But based on that fact that we have been close for long, he had to let the issue die down 

  As he called his girlfriend to order over her immature actions and words 

"Hey guys, that's enough. My girlfriend may act childish sometimes and that's why I am always here to correct her actions and straighten her ways"- Micheal replied

His girlfriend obviously seemed so ashamed that Micheal would bring her ego down to it's lowest height. she couldn't believe her ears.

  I smiled to myself, knowing that she would rethink her words before revealing them through her mouth.

"So back to the main reason why we are here, I will like to travel out of the city for a while and I don't know if you would accompany me to this new place"- I finally dropped the bombshell that brought us to the restaurant

Gabriel felt surprised when I mentioned that I want to travel out, perhaps he was wondering how I am going to help him if I wasn't going to be around 

"Why are you moving out or do you want to take a vacation or something?"- Micheal asked 

"Well I got into a brief argument with my parents and they decided to send me to Nigeria to work in my dad's company. I don't want to go anywhere that is far away from the states.

  That's why I have decided to run away to another country for a period of three months. At least that would give them the impression that can't easily make decisions at my back and expect me to comply.
