Chapter 26: Making Plans
Michael paused for a minute, he was obviously surprised when I narrated the whole story to him. He couldn't believe his ears as he stared directly into my eyes
"What happened, did you do something wrong that made them request you leave the states?. or is it for a business purpose?"- Micheal asked
"Well my mom said that i should travel and reside in Nigeria with my aunt and also work in one of my dad's company over there. And I don't want to go there at all, my spirit doesn't agree with that place"- I replied
"Your Spirit must be crazy then. I mean you are traveling to work and start a new life, not like it's a Prison or something"- Micheal replied jokingly
I looked quite amused by his words, based on the fact that it was only meant to create a laughter scene
"I came to you as a friend so that we can all agree on what I should do, because I feel like I am about to lose my mind"- I replied with a frown
"Did she give you a duration of your stay in Nigeria or is it forever?"- Kelvin interrupted
"I can't remember, but I know it would definitely be more than a year and I don't like that at all"- I replied
The four of them all remained quiet as if someone poured chilled water on their body until Alexia finally broke the silence
"Hmmm, I think you should take a break and have some time to think about this so that you can come up with a final decision or do you want to still travel out?"- She asked
"Yes, that's why I even called for this meeting. I want Micheal to accompany to Washington DC and I will also take Gabriel along"- I replied
Gabriel felt so surprised by that last words of mine and he couldn't hide his joy as he hugged me so tight
"Thanks bro, I am very certain that we will have a great time together and I hope it's going to last forever"- Gabriel replied jokingly
I knew he was so full of joy to know that I will always be there for him when he needs me
"So when are we planning to travel to Washington DC?"- Micheal asked
"We can leave tomorrow if possible, I don't even want to spend another night in my parents house. They look like a pain in my ass"- I said
"Why don't we travel to Atlanta Georgia, there is far more better than washington DC and we could also visit some beautiful centres there too"- Alexia cut in
"That's a brilliant Idea, I have never been to Atlanta Georgia. So it would be nice to visit there for the first time. Is Kelvin coming with us?"- Micheal asked
"I would have love to travel with you guys, but I have to assist my mom in the company. She has been stressed up lately and it's affecting her health badly"- Kelvin replied with a little smile
"That's okay, I respect your decision. I wish I had a mom like yours, life would be sweet and beautiful for me"- I said
We burst into laughter and Alexia picked up one slice of pizza and ate it in a reckless manner. She decided to bring down her ego this time
"I think we should all move next week, at least we will be able to prepare very well. And do you mind if my girlfriend also tags along with our trip?"- Micheal asked
Alexia didn't expect that at all, she didn't even know what Michael had in mind for her
"It would be nice to have a girl in our midst, at least that would lighten up the mood and it would be more better because she will actually be the one to cook for us.
I have no cooking skills at all and if I should mistakenly cook any food, then be rest assured that the food would be able to kill a rat"- I replied jokingly
They all burst into laughter again and Kelvin equally lightened up the event by sharing his experience in cooking noodles
"What you said actually made me remember what happened while I was trying to cook some noodles few days back. I had no idea how to even prepare it properly and our chef was sick.
And I was badly hungry, so I had to enter the kitchen and fix something for myself or else I may pass out. I poured the noodles into the pot, added like two spoons of salt and some spices, and after it was prepared I couldn't even test it because the aroma was odd"- Kelvin said
"So did you throw it away just like that, you should have tested it to be sure if it was okay"- Alexia cut in
"I tested a little due to the severe hunger and I nearly vomited. The noodles tasted so awkward to the extent that the dogs rejected the food"- Kelvin replied
"This is hilarious I must say. You are a bad good then, thank God my mom taught me how to cook very well like a woman"- Gabriel said
"That's an added advantage then, you will assist Alexia and both of you will be responsible for the cooking"- I replied with a grin on my face
"Hey, I'm are not your maids neither am i your chef, so you will have to fend for your own food"- Alexia reacted
"How about I pay you $800 for every food that you will prepare during our stay?"- I replied
Alexia paused for a moment, she was obviously contemplating about the price and she wants to know if I was actually serious with my words
"Are you for real or you are just trying to pull my legs right now?"- She asked
Micheal remained quiet while all these discussions were going on. I didn't know if he was angry about the part where I said that his girlfriend will be the cook
"I'm for real girl, it's just a simple task though. Or nevermind, we will actually cool off in a hotel, so our food and drinks would be covered"- I replied back
She felt sad, knowingly that she wasn't going to eat my money for her services.
"That's sounds like a relief. I even forgot about that earlier on, so it seems that our meeting has finally come to an end. I have to leave now and start preparing for the journey next week"- Micheal said as he shooked hands with Kelvin and Gabriel, he was quite happy to see them again
Alexia however stood up and gave everyone a handshake before she finally clinged to the hands of Micheal. I was quite jealous of their relationship and I wished I could just get a chance to date a nice girl that would have the beautiful face of Alexia
"See you guys later. Bye sweethearts"- Alexia said as they both left the table together with her arms crossed against Micheal's own
"Sounds like we are the only ones remaining. so what are we going to do now?"- Gabriel asked
"Well I guess it's time for us to move back home, we will talk more on our way home and we would also use the opportunity to introduce you to Kelvin's mom"- I replied to Gabriel
I called out to the waiter and signified for our bill, one of the female waiteress brought our bill and it we actually ordered food and drinks equivalent to $8000.
But I gave the waiteress $8700 and I told her to keep the $700 for herself. She thanked me so much with so much happiness written all over her face as she carefully cleared out table. The three of us left the restaurant and we headed straight to the place where we packed our car
"I need to go home and rest, I feel so tired. I haven't slept well for the past one day"- I said while stretching out my body as we got close to the car
We got inside the car and this time, I was the one driving this time because Kelvin was a bit tired and so was kinda feeling heavy as a result of the too much food he ate
"It was really nice of you to support Gabriel out there, at least that would teach Alexia that she can't just talk to people the way she wants"- Kelvin said
"Yes, her manners are not so good at all and I don't why Micheal would stoop so low to date that kind of girl. Or is it because of her beauty?"- I asked
"I had the feeling that she was looking down on me when I spoked about how hungry I was back there"- Gabriel cut in
"That doesn't matter bro, you actually remained simple and true to yourself. That's one thing that I like about you"- I replied back with a smile
"So where are we heading to?"- Gabriel asked?
"We are heading back to Kelvin's house so that i can introduce you to his mom, then after that we will head back to my house. I hope my mom would be in a good mood today"- I replied
Gabriel let out a smile as he relaxed his back on the soft head pillow in the car. I drove for a while till we finally got to Kelvin's house.
I horned at the gate and it was opened immediately
"Welcome back gentle men, hope you had a great time together"- The gateman asked with a smile
"Yes we did, Hope your day is going well too"- Kelvin replied
"Yes it is sir. I think your mom should he resting in her room"- That gateman said as he went back to lock the gate
"This is pure luxury, take a look at all these cars. These would worth millions of dollars"- Gabriel exclaimed
Kelvin smilled on hearing those words and he quickly came down from the car as he went straight to the living room.
I took Gabriel by the hand as I led him into the luxurious living room
"That's my car right there"- I said, pointing to a red ferrari
"You all are living on the good side of life and it's quite okay"- Gabriel said
Kelvin walked down from the stairs with his mother and she hugged Gabriel immediately she sighted him. It's been a long while since she last saw him and I couldn't even believe that she would still remember his face.
Sounds like she has a strong retentive memory
"It's quite surprising that you can still remember me after so many years. The last time I saw you was three years ago"- Gabriel said
"I can never forget the face of my son's close friend, I had a close relationship with your mom too. But it's quite sad that I lost her number when my phone was stolen.
How is she faring, hope she is okay?"- Kelvin's mother asked
Gabriel remained silent for a moment, he was obviously lost in thoughts again through that question.
"Is everything okay Gabriel"- Kelvin's mother asked, while tapping his shoulder
"Everything is quite complicated for us, my mom is Working around the clock to ensure that we don't go hungry and my dad is passing through some pains as we speak"- Gabriel replied.
Kelvin's mother was obviously sad on hearing this and she couldn't bear it as tears ran down from her eyes
We all sat down in the living room as Kelvin tried to console his mother and make her calm down
"Your mother once saved my life during a robbery attack. we were both on the same bus when a guy suddenly pointed a gun at me and asked me to bring out all my money.
Your mother quickly grabbed the gun and pointed it upwards till the man released a bullet to the roof of the bus. Her actions saved my life and it equally saved my money and since that day we became so close till I lost her number. I promise I would always be there for her"- Kelvin's mother said in tears
"It's okay, she equally lost yours too when she mistakenly formatted her phone and I bet she would want to talk to you really bad"- Gabriel replied
"Please can I have her contact so that I can call her"- Kelvin's mother asked
"Yes you can, it's a pleasure to see you again ma"- Gabriel said as he typed his mother's number on her phone
"Mr Rooney"- Kelvin's mother screamed
Mr Rooney walked into the room with haste as he gently demanded to know the reason why he was called
"Please go into the room and get me my cheque book with a pen"- Kelvin's mother replied
Gabriel's eyes started rolling, he smiled when he heard the word cheque book. Being broke must have taken a huge part of his integrity, lol (laughing out loud)
Mr Rooney came back with the cheque book few minutes later and he handed it over to his madam
"Alright, Gabriel here is a cheque of $800,000. Please cash out the money at the bank and give $750,000 to your parents while you keep the rest"- Kelvin's mother replied
Gabriel knelt down in tears as he held the legs of Kelvin's mother and thanked her for the kind gesture towards his family. His heart was so full of joy and I almost shed a tear seeing him in that mood
Kelvin also smiled as he raised Gabriel from the ground
"That's okay Gabriel, your mom is my close friend and I won't be alive to watch her suffer."- Kelvin's mother replied
"Thank you so much ma, I and my family will never forget this"- Gabriel said
Two hours later, we all ended our lovely chat and it was time for me to head back home. But I would need to drop Gabriel at the bank so that he could cash out the money
"Let me take you to bank so that you can cash out the money"- I said
Gabriel thought for a moment and he wasn't really ready to rush to the bank because he looked so stressed out and tired
"Perhaps we would do that tomorrow. just give me your number so that I can call you tomorrow morning"- Gabriel replied
"That's sounds okay"- I said while handling my business card to him
I took him to his home and his mother was very glad to see me, but I couldn't spend much time with them because I was already late.
I have to be at home before 8pm and it's already 7pm. so I would need to rush down
"Bye Gabriel, I would chat with you later on what's app. And we can talk more"- I replied while giving Gabriel a warm hug before leaving
