Chapter 69

What are they trying to hide from me?. How come Andrew never told me of any incident that took place at his office?.

"What drama are you referring to?. What happened here?"- I asked with curosity

"Actually Mr Andrew was lucky to escape from the hands of a blackmailer and all thanks to the security camera's hidden in his office. He was able to defend himself"- He replied

"I still don't get it. Please calm down and explain everything to me from the very beginning"- I replied

"Well it all started when his secretary tried to blackmail him with a rape scandal. That very day, we all had a board meeting and I could vividly remember that you joined us online due to the fact that you were not around that very moment.

  So after the meeting, we all went to our various offices and I went straight to the ICT department to get some hard drives when I came across the live footage of what was happening in Mr Andrew's office. His secretary walked in and she tried seducing the manager by exposing some parts of her body to stir up his urge

But Mr Andrew was however wise not to fall for her tricks and when it dawned on her that he wasn't cut out for her games, she came up with a new strategy to blackmail him by threatening to scream out loud and lie to the other workers that he tried to rape her in his office.

  It was a funny scene because she had no idea that their whole conversation was being recorded. I was however pleased when Mr Andrew tried to talk to her and make her to abort her foolish plans because he knew the consequences she would face if this information gets to your ears 

But it seems she already made up her mind to ruin the name of this company, and when Mr Andrew finally revealed to her that they were cameras placed at every corner in the office. She nearly froze to death because it dawned on her that the whole ICT department was watching her live. Mr Andrew walked out of the office in anger when the secretary held unto his legs and made him fall to the ground, thereby causing an injury in his nose"- He replied

I was totally devasted after listening to all what he has said and now I see the reason why Andrew sneaked out of the church that very day. He was probably scared that he might face this same issue when he gets to Nigeria

"So what happened to the secretary, where is she?"- I asked angrily

"Sir I'm not yet done with the story. Just take your time and get all the full details before taking any action"- Williams replied, trying to calm down my nerves because my anger level is increasing drastically

"Alright, carry on with the rest of the story, I am calm now"- I replied while taking a deep breath to reduce my anger 

"So when Mr Andrew started bleeding from his nostrils, he walked straight to us at the ICT department and demanded that we save the video footage of what transpired between him and his secretary. I followed him on his way out so that I can see what he would do to the young lady, and just as we got aside, we saw a car coming in through the gate.

  To our surprise, the driver identified himself as the boyfriend of the evil secretary who tried to blackmail Mr Andrew. The guy however pleaded with the whole management team to forgive his girlfriend because he was the one who forced her into the who blackmail issue and for he first time in history, I was completely short of words that very day"- He replied

Can't believe this all happened behind my back, why did Andrew hide this from me. Was he scared of telling me the truth?

"But how did her boyfriend drive in at the exact time, something seems fishy"- I replied

"I asked the same question too, but from the guy's explanation. It would be clear to say that they both planned everything, including the time they would carry out their scheme"- He replied

This sounds like a dream to me, I really need to see the video before I can believe what Mr Williams is saying because this kind of thing has never happened before.

  I don't believe that her boyfriend was the mastermind of the blackmail, perhaps they were both working for someone else. Ever since my company started making it big in the gaming niche, I have been facing a lot of troubles from unknown enemies and some of them even tried to pull down my games from google playstore through their negative comments and reviews.

"Please let's go straight to The ICT department, so that I can see how it all started. Hope they still have the video footage intact?"- I asked 

"Yes of course, I specially told them to save the video and also back it up to the clouds incase it goes missing"- He replied

We both walked out of my office and went straight to the ICT section, I was more than determined to get to the bottom of this issue and bring the culprits to justice if I can.

  On reaching the department, I opened the door in anger and demanded that everybody should leave, except the main personnels who were handling the cameras within and outside the whole building

"Please I want you to play the video footage where Mr Andrew was being blackmailed by his secretary"- I called out to the senior staff in charge

He brought out a flash drive and inserted it to his computer and with the help of some technical connections. I was able to watch the video on the big television screen located at the side of the department. It's been a long time since I last paid a visit to this area and I couldn't help but imagine how it has changed so much over the past few months of my absence.

  My son has done a great job in ensuring that everyone in the company is being provided with a suitable environment to work. I never knew the true worth of my little boy until today.

They played the video and I took a chair to sit down and properly watch it till the very end so that I don't take any actions without proper knowledge of what happened. Their conversation in the room lasted for about 45 minutes before Andrew left the room with a bleeding nose.

  I was so weak after watching the whole video, I do agree that Andrew may be stubborn some times. But what he did made me understand that he only ran away because he didn't know how to explain what he was passing through

Seems that I have forced him to follow my own decisions without caring to know how he feels about it. What kind of father would do that?.

  I really need to speak to him and apologize for everything, perhaps I would consider canceling his trip to Nigeria. I would hire another manager who would work there 

"Alright, get back to work everyone. Thank you for recording this video and please do not let this information get across to the other workers"- I called out to everyone in the room

"But 70% of the workers came out to see what was happening because his secretary attracted a lot of attention with her actions. Or should we just remain silent about the issue and warn all of them never to speak of it again?"- Mr Williams asked 

"I think that would be better. Make a public announcement on my behalf and tell everyone not to mention a word about what happened to the Manager and do not let another soul watch that video. Do you understand?"- I asked, looking very serious at this point

"Yes sir. I understand you well and clear. But what about the previous issue we were about to discuss in your office before I brought out this information?"- Mr Williams asked 

For some reason, it seems that Mr Williams was also eyeing the position of the manager. And I guess I will just have to let him assume the position for now since Andrew is not around 

"You can take over his office and like I said, it's a temporary promotion. Don't start acting like someone who won a lottery because I won't hesitate to take you back to your old position once Mr Andrew arrives. Hope you are good with this?"- I asked 

"That's not a problem sir. I'm delighted to be the chosen one who will supervise the activities of the other staffs"- He replied with a smile 

His joy knew no bounds and I could see it all written on his face. Maybe I would double his salary by 20%, at least he should enjoy some of the benefits of being a manager till he eventually hand over the position to Andrew.

  But in the meantime time, I would need to head back home and force my wife to give me Andrew's location or call him in my presence. I'm going to explain everything to her so that she won't think I have changed to my my previous character

"Okay, I will see you all later. Need to start moving home right now"- I replied and took my leave 

I went straight to my car and drove out of the building, my whole focus was how to speak to Andrew at this instant moment, I need to explain some things to him.

  It's high time we stop fighting each other and work together because we actually need to come up with ideas on how to build our defenses against our unknown enemies because they would stop at nothing to see that the company crash down in failure. I got home quite late today because of some traffic congestion on the way 

"Hope my wife is at home?"- I asked the security guard

"Yes, she came back five hours ago."- He replied

I parked my car and went straight to the room, I met her lying down on the bed, she was fast asleep.

  Seems she also went out of the house too. I took of my clothes and immediately I took of my belt, she woke up 

"Why are you back home this late?"- She asked, while cleaning her sleepy eyes 

"I had something important to fix at work and there's something I would like to discuss with you if only you will tell me nothing but the truth because so many things are at stake here"- I replied

She seemed quite uncomfortable with my reply. Maybe she's hiding something after all 

"What happened and why are so many things are stake?. And how do you mean by I should say nothing but the truth?- She asked 

Three questions for just one reply, women are indeed very sensitive to any little statement at all

"I will tell you everything when I'm done taking my bath"- I replied, while dashing off to the bathroom

I opened the shower and let the cold water run through my skin. I really need to take a break from all this because it's really exhausted. I came out of the bathroom few minutes later without any towel and she quickly throw my night wear at my face 

"Oh sorry."- She apologized 

"That's okay. Have you eaten?"- I asked 

"No I've not eaten anything since I came back home because I ate something at the restaurant"- She replied

"What restaurant. Do you now prefer restaurant foods more than the chef's food?"- I asked

"No, that's not what I mean. I actually went to the restaurant to hang out with my friends.

  We organized a ladies hangout to chill and relax for a little while. So we ordered for some pizza and drank a lot of wine, that's why I don't feel hungry now"- She replied

"That's not a problem then. I think I would head downstairs to see what the chef has prepared for me"- I replied
