Owen sat on his huge hotel bed, typing on his laptop. He has been on his laptop since today. In as much as he is trying to get some works done, he was doing it to take his mind off whatever that is bothering him. He skipped lunch and he is about skipping dinner.
He just got an eureka when the words 'Cancel' and 'Reschedule' appear on the screen. He always got a problem like that to deal with.
He sighed frustratedly and slammed his laptop closed then puched the bed.
A knock came almost immediately and he got up to check who is at the door not minding he is just on his briefs.
He opened the door. There she stood smiling.
"Good evening Mr.."
Kulture smiled up at him. She came for her evening shift and had asked about the guest at the room 394 and she was told he has not been seen except in the morning. She did not knowing why she was worried about him and decided to check up on him.
Standing right in front of him with nothing on his body, she forgot why she was there at the first place.
"Snap out of it and tell me what you are doing here?"
Owen screamed making Kulture to jump.
"You don't have to scream. I am not the one who said you should be handsome" She murmured under her breath.
Though Owen heard her, he pretended he never did.
"So?"
He asked with his brows raised up. He was lazily leaning on the door frame watching the girl with different emotions playing on her face.
"Em..what?"
She stuttered not understanding what he meant by "SO?"
"I asked what are you doing here?"
"Oh! that! I was told you did not eat lunch and that is so bad. And it looks like you might not want to eat dinner so I decided to make sure you do. It's almost past dunner hour and I don't want you to sleep without food"
Kulture spoke rapidly and Owen tried not to laugh out loud. The way she looked at him made it clear that she was really concerned about him but he knew she doesn't mean anything serious.
"You sound like a dotting girlfriend"
The word GIRLFRIEND made her blushed and she kept her face down in order for Owen not to see her blushing.
"Looks like someone is turning red? I am wondering what the hotel management will do when they find out that one of their workers left her duty post to ask why a costumer did not eat lunch"
Owen said enjoying the whole scenerio.
"Hush, don't talk again. I will go. Just come out to eat already"
She said and turned to leave when she came face to face with Francis who was on his way to his room after having dinner. He was surprised to see her.
"Kulture!"
Kulture looked up and her smile faded,
"Mr Francis, you are in town and we don't know?"
Kulture asked in surprise.
"I just arrived today, I was hoping to come tomorrow. What are you doing here?"
He asked and sized her up.
"I work here"
"Why would you work here? Are you not supposed to be in school"
"It's a long story Mr Francis, we can't actually talk now because I am working, maybe when you come home tomorrow I will tell you"
The two people were oblivious of Owen still at the door.
There is no need asking if they know each other because it is obvious"
Owen thought as he watched the two conversed.
They seemed familiar with each other and from what he could gather, it seems to be more than friendly. The look on Francis' eyes told him he likes the woman.
Owen shook his head to snap himself back from the thoughts and walked into the room shutting the door behind him. His feet felt like lead, and he couldn’t even feel comfortable with his body.
He sighed heavily and went down on bed.
He was halfway to the bed when his door banged again.
He ignored it and landed on the bed with his eyes staring at the ceiling.
"Owen, it's Francis, open up"
"Oh no! not now boy"
Owen said and closed his eyes,
"I am coming in"
And with that his door was thrown open.
"O wanted to call you when I was going to eat but did not, can I come in?"
"You are in already in"
Owen said without opening his eyes.
Francis walked in with his hands at his back after shutting the door.
"It seems my girlfriend's younger sister has got eyes on you?"
Owen's eyes flicked open on hearing the statement.
"Here, I was thinking they are intimately related. What would make me think so?"
He thought and sat up.
"She sure does."
