Jenny's point of view.....
I have been here in this kitchen for over fifteen minutes now and Zain is still not here with me. He was almost done brushing his teeth before I left him.
"He is in his house remember?"I reminded myself. There was no reason to be asking questions why he is not here with me. It could be that something caught up with him.
I turned towards the cooker when I realized that my step fry was ready.
I had decided we would have veggies and hot dogs this morning.
My phone buzzed on the counter where I left it and I picked it up.
It was a text message from Lucas,
"Good morning dearest. I don't know what happened to you and I am deeply worried. I will be right at your brother's house later to check on you. Have a blessed morning"
"What's that?"
I jumped when I heard Zain's voice. I stared at him shocked, wondering when he appeared in the kitchen.
I put my phone back on the counter and cleared my throat. It's not like I am doing anything wrong but knowing the kind of person Zain is, I would not want him to see the text.
"Nothing really, when did you arrive?"
I asked, trying to keep calm.
"Just 30 seconds ago!"he said walking to me."Is everything ok?" He asked putting one hand on mine.
I looked away and nodded yes.
"You arrived late. you forgot I said we are making breakfast together"
I tried to sound annoyed to cover up my nervousness.
"Sorry about that, I had to pack Susan's stuff. So what's my baby making?"
He asked pecking me then looked around,
"Hot dogs and veggies"
I responded watching him dot from one end to another.
"I can tell breakfast is going to be yummy because the aroma is heavenly"
I chuckled at the way he waggled his nose.
So what kept he is because he was packing Susan's stuff. It's funny how life goes, so as it is now, Susan is about to become a memory. "Sis, we never planned for this"
I thought, trying so hard not to drop a tear.
"You know, you could have leave her things"
I said suddenly and he stopped what he was doing to stare at me.
"It's no big deal to have her things around"
I added.
"Well, I did not like that you leak each time you look at her things. That's why I am getting rid of her things. It's not like I am throwing them away, they will just be packed at a place"
"I know right. it's fine but what do you mean leaking?"
I ask, watching his face keenly.
He laughed and pulled me to himself then kissed my forehead.
"I meant the way you cry when you see her things"
He explained.
"Oh, I thought otherwise. I was imagining what you met by I am leaking, I thought you were referring to me shedding blood and I would have asked you what has shedding blood got to do with Susan.
He threw his head backward and laughed.
"You are so funny. You know, you and I have a lot in common"
He said in between his laugh.
"How?"
My face was so straight that you wouldn't believe that I was the one that asked the question.
"You know, like in terms of using expressions. I said leaking and you said shedding. Look at it this way, no one will have known leaking means crying and no one would have also known that shedding blood has everything to do with you being in your period"
He explained with a huge grin on his face
I stared at him stunned and I could feel a blush rise from my neck to my cheeks.
"That's true..."
We both stood there for a while until I remembered that we were supposed to be preparing the table by now.
"Breakfast time!"
I screamed.
"Oh! right? Let's get the table"
He said and scratched his head. I used the opportunity to slide away from him.
"Can you help me take those plates to the kitchen?
I instructed, pointing to the set of plates I left on the counter.
"Sure"
He briefly answered and went to carry the order. That moment he looked like an adorable obedient little big baby.
You won't believe it, if I tell you that Zain's is seven years older than I am.
While he was setting the plates, I dished our breakfast inside in big bowls, the hot dog in one and the veggies in another bowl.
I took the bowls to the dinning and came back to get the juice mug and some fruits.
Hopefully enough, in a short while I won't be cooking for such a large number of people
